Imo,"Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar" book, it's called like that, with a really easy to recognize yellow cover. There are Intermediate and Advanced too, but the first one is the must have the first year at least. No bullshit, just grammar entries with lots of example sentences and explanations about formality, similar expressions... Also, the first book, the Basic one, has furigana. The pdf's are easy to find if you're short on money.

Nintendo are prudes, but at their core, I think they might be a different kind of prude from the progressive types that you see involved with games journalism.
Nintendo likes to see themselves as a family company- kind of the like the Disney of video games, so they do go ahead now and tone their games down to uphold that image. I don't think it's right, but I can see their changes as being more of a company branding sort of thing, rather than trying to paint themselves as being 'progressive'.
Parallel to this, you have those gaming sites that basically relegate Nintendo as that distant company that barely deserves mentioning, so I could see them throwing a 'fuck you' to them here and there.
