I have played it, its a good game but to call it a "Masterpiece" or GOTY would be such an insult to gaming as a whole. The first few chapters of the game are painfully slow and the plot doesn't even get started till about chapter 6.

This game (and franchise) is so good. Only series that really gives that feeling of the old Indiana Jones films. Pure adventure, and the shooting is pretty fun on moderate if you move around a lot and use variety of weapons.

If you're the target audience for UC4- which is to say, someone who liked the first three UC games and other games like it- then yeah, UC4 is probably a 9 or 10/10. If you're not, it isn't, but the thing is that most mainstream game reviews are reviewed by people who are already interested in playing them and enjoy other games in the series/genre.
This is also why games with a more niche appeal tend to be ignored or given bad reviews by mainstream outlets, because there may not actually be someone on the team who is part of whatever niche the game appeals to.

I like Uncharted. It's a 10 hour movie that you're totally immersed in. I don't give a shit that there's no choice because I'm playing a character, a character who has his own motivations and personal traits.
Maybe it's not a perfect game, but I had a blast playing it, and so did the reviewers.

Yeah, it doesn't happen with movies because the rate of release vs. time commitment means that the average publication can pay one guy to review every movie in theaters. Video games, on the other hand, come out at such a high rate that it's impossible for one person to play all of them enough to be able to write a review and then actually write it, so you're going to have multiple reviewers per publication, which in turn means that people are going to review the games that they think they're going to like playing.
This isn't a bad thing at all, mind you- a review should ideally judge a game based on how well it does what it's trying to do and how good its target audience will think it is, and someone who is part of said target audience and likes what it's trying to do is obviously going to be best qualified to do that. But it is going to result in review aggregates favoring games with mass appeal over niche titles.

It's a solid 8/10 and the best Uncharted has ever been.
More open exploration areas, encounters can be done with full stealth, even ghost, making that more open as well.
Difficulty finally got tuned just right so that enemies aren't bullet sponges 1/4 through the game and Nathan can take a few more hits
Melee combat is better
The grapple hook was a fantastic addition to both exploration and combat
The story was pretty good
Final fight with Rafe was dope
