I installed Far Cry 2 + Dylan's Realism mod and I've been having fun just intricately trying to take out targets.
This one was just all out on a VIP motorcade.

Change up your loadouts for missions.
The easiest way to get bored is to just use your favorite loadout all the time.
Switch out your Tactics.
Clear an area out with only your pistol and machete. Attack a place using only stealth, retreating if you're discovered. Ambush convoys using IEDs and machinegun combo. Kill only the Target during an assassination mission.
DONT DO BUDDY JOBS AT THE BAR.
You dont get anything by doing them. Just stick with main missions with optional buddy objectives. I feel like it's a left over from a system designed for the player to get some ai help on the main missions from buddies who missions they completed that was scrapped.
Learn the Land!
Bypassing checkpoints through hidden paths or just using the Bus System to get around makes the game a lot less tedious.
Get the predecessor tapes!
I'm a sucker for the Heart of Darkness schtick. Go get the code off the internet and pop it on in.
