Maybe if they didn't off one of the few interesting characters in the game halfway through it would have been better. The Ubi style of game (find tower, tower puts filler activities on your map) was getting stale even back then.

Far Cry 2 could have been really good but they just missed and it turned out to be a bit shitty instead
