The man responsible for the genius of Deus Ex ain't Harvey Smith. It was Warren Spector who brought together all three projects at Ion Storm under one roof with his own philosophy. Harvery Smith was the Pras of Ion Storm. The guy who got lucky enough to join the ranks of far superior talent.

Matter of fact, suck Smith's cock all you like. Sound still means shit, line of sight is king and leaning still makes you invisible. For a man that worked on Deus Ex and had a hand on Deadly Shadows, those are some big oversights.

The HH part of the story may or may not be true, I've lived long enough to know there are always two sides to every story, but people have suddenly decided the same thing happened to Arkane and id. Bullshit there is. Sound means exact crap in Dishonored. What matters is effects. And no shit Sherlock there's line of sight, It's just that it's the only method of detecting an enemy. That or using the x ray vision which renders the game fucking pathetic. So it's either handicapping yourself and surrendering to the entirely pathetic, underweight stealth mechanics or become a tornado of death.
Dishonored does not have anything as complex in its mechanics as Garrets or the guards tap dancing shoes.

Considering Zenimax was confident enough in Obsidian finishing the job, then yes.
That was before they realized that they couldn't use the internal software that HH had created for the game for legal reasons and they were the only fuckers who had extensive knowledge of the engine since they had been working with it since 2004-5.

Bioware didn't leave Microsoft, Microsoft never owned them. What Bioware did was they and Pandemic joined forces to come under the control of an equity firm called Elevation Partners specifically because they wanted to get away from publisher control. The dirty part is that a man named John Riccitiello was the co-founder of Elevation Partners, he became the CEO of EA around the same time as the Bioware purchase. One of his first actions in a company that was seeing a massive decline in profits was to pay himself a lot of money for Bioware, far more than it was worth. The whole thing stinks really bad. In that deal gamers lost, Bioware lost and EA lost but John Riccitiello won big time.

I'm complaning that the game has no proper feedback system akin to the sound propagation in Thief in order to discern the location of enemies that won't make me resort to line of sight and x ray vision.
Hitman has satellite maps
MGS has radar maps.
Splinter Cell has thermal goggles
Thief has sound
Dishonored however has nothing akin to any of the above BESIDES the x ray vision.
So yes. It's a bad stealth game by any measurement. As a Bioshock clone it's actually fun when i'm ripping spines left and right. But a successor to Thief or even an acceptable stealth game it damn well ain't.

You are FORCED to use the Xray vision because there's no feedback. Which is the polar opposite of supposed "player choice".
Good stealth games have feedback. Dishonored has nothing. It's a bad stealth game.

When I saw the name, I just thought it was just a coincidence that it had the same name of another IP. Only to read the old rumors that Prey was indeed changed to something else fans weren't going to be entirely pleased.

As someone who also played all of the games you mentioned plus MGS 1 and the Hitman and Tenchu series, I gotta say that Dishonored is both an action game and a stealth game, depending on how you play it.
