So what are the chances that Ninty will announce a new Metroid? Hopefully a 2-D one for the 3DS.

I don't expect shit for the 3DS but there is a possibility that they will make a 2.5D sidescroller for the NX platform.
I don't think Metroid will sell in this climate. People hate strong female characters that aren't sexualized to all hell, as they're considered "tumblr pandering". For example, if you like Metroid Prime, you're called a "prime fag". It's a sad state of affairs.
Also of note is the industry's sick obsession with making games into movies. If it doesn't have 5+ hours of cutscenes, nobody will care for it.
Just enjoy the games you have. Even if they did make another game it would be shit.

Amen. I honestly can't understand the reasoning behind prefering a poor man's fps (by definition all console fps's are) over a masterpiece like Super Metroid.
