I'm on my first dlc run, have played HH and DM. So far I'm a little disappointed. the thing is- I don't think the feel of them really fit the rest of NV. I came in expecting sharp twists, a bigger picture to always have in mind, a bigger picture even to grasp. They don't really do that. I was trying to be sharp and on my toes to the very end in DM and the feeling.. the game didn't reciprocate, it was doing something else entirely at the time. After I finished I read on the wiki that what they were going for was a kind of sci fi pulp fiction and when I got that it all made sense and I wished I had known for my first playthrough. In both DM and HH I fumbled to get what the narrative and the atmosphere wanted me to feel and prioritize. I'm disappointed. I've read on the wiki that OWB is 50s sci fi with a hint of Wizard of Oz, hopefully I can come into it with the right mindset this time.

While the BoS are significantly smaller than the other factions, of they deployed proper hit and run tactics, whoever they target will severely hurt until they can locate their base of operation. Everytime I talk to a trader, get hit (or my companion gets hit), hit an enemys "item", etc, I have a second or two or a slight freeze and audio desync. Even with a solid pc and NVSR, it's making me want to abandon the mod, or at least turn off item degradation.

I'm not using fnvlodgen, either. I kept having issues with it, entire hills would just materialize yards in front of me. Fucked around in fnvedit for literally weeks to see if I could figure it out, but gave up. Shame, because I used dyndolod for Skyrim and it worked just fine, made a considerable difference. I just have Improved LOD Noise Texture and High Detail LOD. Also made sure the LOD textures matched my current landscape textures, not much you can do about the pop-in from WFO except change a few lines in the ini, don't remember which ones though.

They're not trying to emulate old america to a fault, the NCR is more concerned with the old american ideals of freedom, democracy, and the american dream. In my least favorite part of New Vegas I realized what made NV so much better than the bethesda fallouts. I was doing a new playthrough and it had been a while, and manny vargas told me to do that god awful hours-long repconn facility ghoul rocket quest. In a moment of pure dread I shot him in the fucking face. Nobody noticed, and it bypassed the quest completely, I guess you can also apparently just kill all the ghouls.
Fallout 3 and 4 would have had him and the ghouls be unkillable NPCs and you MUST help them every single time, whereas on this new playthrough of NV I tried something on a whim and I progressed in an all new way.I got a bitching outfit and rifle out of it too.

Old World Blues is a good DLC, but it's not as great as everyone makes it out to be. The research stations are great, and most of the dialogue is worth listening to, but the combat balance is so fucked.
