Well, I've had an experience recently with Chinese vendors on ebay. Apparently someone purchased 2 motorcycle jackets and 3 giant hiking backpacks from them on my account and by the time I realized what had happened it was too late to cancel the order. I tell my bank to take care of the situation and everything seemed all hunky-dory until I saw that they had shipped me something in the end.
What had arrived was not 2 motorcycle jackets and 3 hiking backpacks though. What I received was some cheap cellphone screen protector. Funnily enough it even said how much it weighed both on the tracking number and on the packaging. I got re-charged, so I told my bank it was fraud and they removed the charges again and I got a new card replacement. Haven't had any charges since then. From then on I decided that I wouldn't trust the Chinese in any business form.

The mountains mined out for coal and ore, the seaside turned into green algae mush due to fertilizer runoffs caused by corrupt government officials, all the fish are dead and by god, the air. The fucking air. I break out in hives every time I go outside. The few people who can avoid it, rich families and military families, rent super-duper high rise apartments to get away from it all.
See, the thing is, China isn't a developed country. They may want to say they are, but they aren't. They're a third world country that's been given a lot of money way too fast to know how to adjust or take any sort of social responsibility.
Their mindsets are still in survival mode, everyone scrambling and paranoid. The lack of government makes crime and scams massive, just look up gutter oil. People are afraid to help one another, or just don't care, because in a world with 1.2 billion gooks who all look alike, what's another dead child? Seriously, that's how they, how we, all think. The only people you can trust is your immediate family, and that's the only people you care about. They have no desire to improve their environment or society, just to survive and hopefully get rich. Honestly, its a shithole, albeit one with very, very rich and powerful people, and unless you're a buisnessman never visit that country.

Seriously, Chinese kids are taught that Mao beat back the Japanese and made them surrender, and that the atom bomb was just sort of revenge for Pearl harbor, like a war crime. They're also taught from youth to be suspicious of Western media. Barely anyone has heard of Tiananmen.
So yeah, it's almost like something out of a dystopian sci-fi movie. People are poor and suffering, but the middle class who might be able to change things are too occupied with their cell phones to give a shit.

I used to work in the plastics industry, we would order iron spheres we put in the head of rubber mallets. You're essential gambling if you order anything from China because if an order simply doesn't appear there's fuck all you can do about it. The only thing you can do is to ensure that you don't pay them in any way before it's done and make absolutely fucking sure that they pay for the transport so that everything up until it's by your factory doorstep is their responsibility. We usual have our stock "on the road" with very little at the factory, so that we can plan in such a way that when we're expected to be out of materials we've already make sure an order will come the day after. It's efficient but it didn't fucking work when dealing with China. You could get shit months later if you got em at all.
