The complete Laissez Faire free market Ayn Rand claims will uplift humanity has already been tried in both America and Europe. Both times it led to economic recessions and a massive wage gap that led many of the lower class to look at the other end of the spectrum, Communism, and think it was a fine idea. Communism, you might remember, successfully overthrew a fucking country and led to damn near a century of oppression and squalor for most of said country. Because the opposite end of the economics field sucks just as hard. That country was called Russia. Russia's problems could fill a whole book, and probably has several times. But essentially, the Czar was doing a shitty job, couldn't keep up with the times, and didn't listen when the lower class said they wanted at least a few changes. So they listened to the charismatic motherfucker Lenin who charmed them with the communist ideal and they took the Czars family out behind the Palace shed and shot them. The rest is history. Point being, if you make the lower classes have nothing to lose and push them to the breaking point, they will force change to happen and is what would happen if Rand's society became a thing. Coincidentally, that is also what happened in BioShock.

Even the communists where everyone was supposed to operate together, you need a leader, and that leader will often take advantage of their position to get more than the rest of the populace, which on paper, is not what communism is all about. That is what Animal Farm was all about. Another book OP should probably educate himself with. Both systems are fucked and full of holes.

One of Russia's big problems with Stalin was that Stalin decided that Russia would be THE communist country and essentially turned the USSR into a not-fascist state that went around conquering its neighbors and starting up puppet communist governments for the purpose of furthering Russia's own interests.
This can be seen where Stalin decided to have the russian-backed communists in Spain start attacking the anarchists/socialists etc, ultimately hurting both groups' chances at defeating Franco
