Oh no, that's not what I'm implying at all. There's kanji outside of the Joyo kanji that you'll see for sure. And learning all of them by heart would get you through quite a bit. Sure, you'll find kanji you've never seen before when you're reader that book of old ghost stories, but you just take a few seconds to look it up and move on. Same as when you come across an unknown or forgotten word in your native language.

I've even seen people complain because the voices sound different, which is sometimes a good thing. Take Kashiwagi for instance, her Japanese voice suits her character, sexy and flirty, but it would just be annoying if an American woman tried to mimic that, so having her speak in a typical sexy, flirty way an American MILF would was a good choice.

Well yeah, but everyone comes across kanji they don't know or remember. Taking a picture of one and throwing it into Jisho if you don't trust the auto translation is a hell of a lot better than doing a radical search on Jisho (which I did for the entirety of Persona 2 IS and EP because I didn't know Google Translate had OCR recognition).
