As someone in the general said, the fact that they're calling this 1 perk 1 character 2 community maps a CONTENT PACK instead of an UPDATE tells you just about everything you need to know about KF2 (ea done rightâ„¢).

Everyone was waiting for sharpshooter with bated breath, but somehow since the beta build of that update they lost 4% (in a week) on the general user review of the last 30 days, going from 49% to 45%.

Demolitions is an incredibly weak perk.

It's damage is very low.
So they did a revamp that cuts it's damage further due to resistances.
Cuts down all the explosive range on all explosions by a minimum of 50%(RPG7 was cut by 75%)

And one perk is either

>5 more shots for all weapons

It's entirely pointless to pick it.

But then, something incredible happened! They saw that implementing L4D was completely at odds with the entire KF2 game design because none of the zeds were made to incapacitate players like special infected were, and that (plus VS being restricted to normal difficulty) meant that a good player could solo waves as long as he kept an eye out for player sirens!

The Beta was a mess and despite community input they released it in a broken state. The update to fix it came over a year later but at that point i was done with the game.

It has an all or nothing feel about it, since if they overwhelm you, you dont have the freedom to just run away. All the current maps you just run circles while shooting backwards over and over.

Basically trash zeds are now tanky as fuck for no reason, there's no logic behind it. On normal you won't notice it much, on hard you can really start to feel it, I haven't tried playing on higher difficulties than that but obviously it'll get worse as you go to higher difficulties and zeds have higher HP.

This change basically makes all the guns feel like shit, you went from taking all trash down with 1 headshot to having to headshot trash several times to take it down. It kinda reminds me of the division but with no loot system, everything just feels like a bullet sponge.

Fucking this. KF2 was fun prior to this new resistance garbage. I didn't mind when they were really slow with updates or whatever microtransaction skin bullshit they added, the core mechanics were solid, it looked great and gunplay had some feeling to it.

But now it just feels like I'm wating ammo on every motherfucker that isn't on my "arbitrary list of things I can kill as this class".

Well I won't touch KF2 before they get rid of the resistances. I hope they'll notice atleast something in their steam review rating and change it fast. I just want to have my mindless zed killing fun back.

Its not quite what you want, but Vermintide has periodic swarms of rats in every level where the go to strategy is to bunker down wherever you can and hold out until the swarm ends. There's also a wave-based survival mode with some bunkering.

I find it funny that for all the flaws and problems of Splash Damage, their character designers are pretty much the only ones in recent memory to have done shooter female characters that look like they belong in their game. Although admittedly dirty bomb is probably deader than KF2 at that point.

Well, that and Nexon probably didn't help, but really nothing killed it, it just wasted away slowly.

We've just gone past the first open beta anniversary, but nothing's really changed since then.
There's still only 6 maps (from 5 a year ago) with one being too big for the movement speed and range of most weapons, the new game mode is as fit for the game as VS is for killing floor, and although they do release mercs, it's still slooooow and basically everybody moved on.
Comp is also very dead by now with queue times making it simply a waste of time and very few remaining "cup" players.

They do try to move in the right direction, the balance patches that do come through aren't bad, but it's still a f2p that has you grind dailies to buy the mercs- something which probably repulsed a lot of potential players-, with no community servers, no mods, no custom maps, nothing that for me was the glue that held such shooters standing. Here you just log in, do your daily or cancel it, and log out. It's too bad because the long time glitches and false positive kicks, the game is basically functional and has most of what I look for into a multiplayer shooter.

for me, it was how they ruined the gunplay. all guns feel like shit and seem to be less precise than in kf1. headshotting has gone from satisfying to absolutely annoying in kf2. I don't know why really, the feelings is just so shit for every gun.

The only one thing that I like about this update is the way Sharpshooter plays. It's powerful but the slow rate of fire makes it difficult to keep trash off of you. It has a purpose (big zeds) and a weakness (trash), just like every class should have. Until now every class has just been great at killing everything and some classes were slightly better at taking out the big fuckers.
