So, what DID change in the remaster?

So, what DID change in the remaster?
>>
It looks like they just put a shitty filter on it.
>>
>>341358435

They could've just added a good ENB, texture, mesh, and lighting improvements that are usually in performance hogging mods and made a more optimized version with their engine
>>
>>341358252
Bethesda's version looks cleaner and more professional. Graphic mods always look like shit
>>
>>341358435
Don't you get it
THATS WHAT ALL GRAPHICS MODS ARE
>>
>>341358252
I'm just waiting for confirmation that they added proper cloth physics and made it 64bit. No modder ever bothered with cloth physics, and 64bit lets me load more mods in to fix their shitty game.

Implying that the pictures you're posting don't look very impressive.

Their so called "remastered" art and assets is apparently just the HD PC textures. Only real changes are possibly 64 bit exe, and Fallout 4's version of the engine.

>>
>>341365797
If the prerequisite to getting a game for free is to buy another game, it's not free.

The cost of electricity and Internet are standalone expenses that people afford for their own merits and not explicitly for the single game you're referencing. Your analogy is flawed.

64 bit now
can use more then 4gb of vram rather then stick and ctd at 3.2
dx11 version instead of 9 which means OS higher then 7 can make literal strides in performance.
This will lead to better mods, more mods being able to be handled especially script heavy ones, and better management of resources.

However the downside is that Todd is hoping that the modder community jumps on board with this new version to help push along console modding. Which will probably force all the modders into hiding on weird ass sites instead of the nexus or steam workshop, because those places are gonna be flooded with wah why can't this PC mod work on my xboner or ps4. You realize now that Bethesda develops games for modding. The console versions are just simply cash grabs. I'm pretty sure they know all their games are half finished and get fixed by the modding community.

The reality is Bethesda currently makes the only series really built for high end PC gaming, because of the modding community.

The point is people who own Skyrim and want this have to spend money. Only people who have all the DLC get it for free, and all of those people had to spend extra money over the base game to get that DLC. The update comes with a mandatory price tag that you either have to pay with the update or with the DLC in the past.

Do you understand?

You essentially pre-ordered the update before you knew it was coming.
>>
>>341368235
It had better, the game is 4 years newer. ENBs are great, but they aren't black magic.

Except in most people they got the legendary edition for $10 a few summer steam sales ago.
After the second year of skyrim being out was when it saw the biggest bolster in the modding because of this.

This is a profoundly stupid argument.

>>341368570
The cost is irrelevant. If it's more than $0, the update is not free and calling it free is ridiculous.

It's a free update to the legendary edition (or its equivalent). Own that? it's free.

>>
>>341358252
The remaster is meant for console players, hence it being free to PC players that own the 2011 release with the DLC.
>>

not him but i've seen hundreds of ENB screenshots posted on /v/ that people praise as good but they always look like shit

it's always

or
>just really goddam dark
or
>goofy and gaudy color pallet

ENB sucks, I'm glad the remaster is acting better lighting solutions.

also, it DOES run like shit with mods and crashes constantly. the updates to the engine that they made between skyrim and fallout 4 make the game a much more stable platform for mods.

Yes, they do. "Darker and bluer" automatically make plebs think the graphics are "so much better". You get the same shit with those autistic STALKER enhancement mods. Yea, let's remove all the ambient lighting and have everything lit by torches despite the fact the engine can't do global illumination so you're staggering around in the fucking dark.

>>
>>341369016
And it's not a free upgrade for people who just own the game.

>>341369036
As I explained before, and you ignored, DLC requiring a base game is standard practice. Obviously. You can't give out DLC for free if nobody has the base game. You fucking moron.

But could they give out this update to people who just own the base game? Yes.

Are they? No. Because they want people to buy all of the DLC or buy the legendary edition.

This, BY STRICT FUCKING DEFINITION, is not free. It's not generous. It's a technique for them to make more money. Obviously. It's literally their business.

Acting like they're not interested in your money is a joke. You're a joke.
>>
>>341369424
It may not even be discounted with the Remastered on the horizon, but not a bad strategy. The summer sale will be soon right? Might get lucky.

holy fuck, stop taking everything you see posted anonymously on /v/ at face value.

They never once called it a remaster, only internet rumors and /v/ threads did. It's a rerelease on modern consoles so they can get in on some of the mods. That's why it's free for PCucks who already have the old one.

>>341369971
That was his whole point. If you bought Skyrim before Legendary edition, you're going to have to buy it a second time to get the new one. You'll either have to buy the new one directly, or get the legendary version and get the new one """free"""
>>
>>341365869
Those are the limitations of playing as a pre-built character with set backstory and personality. It's hard to create loads of options, because you'll have to make all of them in a way that doesn't directly contradicts the character's behaviour.

Geralt is a great character, but him being such a great character is probably the worst thing in an RPG about freedom of choice. If he didn't have a backstory and was just a blank slate, even with a name and appearance, you could still fill in the behaviour and personality youself by progressing through the game in a certain way, kinda like Shepard from Mass Effect.

honestly this remaster was pretty bullshit.
the only god thing they did was the engine update and made skyrim finally a 64bit application.
which is gonna sort out a lot of modding related crashes and remove some modding limitations.

beyond that. nothing else is new.
its not like many skyrim mods are gonna be on console anyways because most need SKSE. which is using a dll injections to extend the skyrim functionality which cannot happen on consoles unless they give them a way to do the same.
>>
>>341369108
Crimean rebel scum.
>>
>>341358252
Updated the engine.

So we have fundamental support for a few new features - most notably global illumination. We have native 64-bit support, and plenty of stability improvements.

These in turn will probably make some more advanced mods possible.

But yeah, nothing much. For PC players it's not a massive update - the interest might be in rift support, as if it's coming to the engine it will be easy to put it in for Skyrim.

The last point is largely interesting because it creates a platform for VR orientated mods. I think the community might produce interesting things for that.

>>341370032
These types of products are typically $40. Since it's replacing Legendary that's what I'd expect.
>>
>>341369696
it is a remaster though

a "re-release" would be the same exact game but released again with no changes. this is remastered. it was new lighting, new textures, increased to 1080p, increased to 60fps, and now allows mod.

Whilst this will be inevitable, and I look forward to it, I also think it could just be an interesting mod base.

Think a single-player Gary's mod, but for VR. Especially if we get the long requested feature of loadable modules, whereby we don't have to go through the main game.

This is a pretty retarded statement. ENB is not the most efficient way to improve graphics in Skyrim, but when you're modding it's the only real way to go. ENB is a post-processing filter, and post-processing is fairly system demanding. If all or at least most of those imporvements could be done within the game engine, the game would run a lot smoother and you wouldn't need the ENB, which is the whole point of doing the remastered version on PC. If it drastically cuts down the number of mods that are necessary to make the game look better then the game will run much better.
