3DS. N64 controls feel like clunky rusty machinery covered in mud. The smoothness of the remakes controls compared to the originals feel inexplicably better.

Honestly the 3DS's art style seems odd to me and doesn't quite fit, but I played the original as a wee lad and it's what I recognize best. The 60 frames per second only makes the strange art more apparent.
However if you were to say the N64 versions look really dated, I'd see where you were coming from. I'd tell you you were wrong, but I'd understand why you said it.

If that's the reasoning, you might as well just emulate it.
Atmosphere is better in N64 versions. Gameplay is better in 3DS versions.
If you can deal with some minor annoyances with the controls, and overall slower paced games, play the N64 versions.

most of the people probably will say the originals, since everyone played those. but the remakes are ok too. is the same just with a new coat of painting (that might not be enjoyed by everyone because of some lighting changes or because the new models)
I already played both of each and I would still play the originals just because im more used to them and the original artstyle. but that doesn't make the remakes bad. Theres also the fact the the 3ds remakes have better fps, but you also have to take into account the lower resolution. all in all just play whatever looks best to you

Not really. I'm an N64 purist, and it's my favorite console, but the 3DS versions are just as good in their own ways.
Yeah, there are a few instances:
>the camoflagued wall inside the Ice Cavern now stands out, so you can't miss it.
>the sandstorm in Haunted Wastleland isn't so blinding that you can't see where you're going or seeing mirages like in the N64 game.
>there is no knee-high blood in Jabu-Jabu's Belly
But 3DS has good touches. The inside of the houses in Kakariko actually look livable now. The Forest Temple has vandalized paintings of stuff from Breath of the Wild. The music is also better in the 3DS versions.
