I always play Symmetra on Defense when I can, but that's the first time I ever tried that after learning about it a week or so ago. Take a look at 1) when people say gg, 2) who say gg. You'll find that in cases where the game was complete one-sided it's much more likely to see people say gg. And obviously, in these cases it's said by the winning team. People from the losing team generally don't say gg, unless the match was particularly close. The gg that comes from most people is nothing but a smug way to assert their perceived superiority. It has little to do with manners.

Winston actually doesn't really work for this one because he has to get right up under the bridge to get his gun in there and the enemy team will usually be watching that lane and blasting you while the 6 turrets zap you when you try
Pharah, Junkrat, and Zarya (give someone like Soldier a shield and have them run in there) are the best ways to clear those things, that and just using the left lane where the turrets can't hit you but nobody ever tries this last tactic for some reason

Not really true. There was a point where it was mostly nerds and kids and things were generally not too mean spirited, a bit awkward though.
