They are selling it as something profound and deep without actually showing us anything real about the game.
It's just a marketing ploy. No one has any idea as to what the game is going to be about or how it will play, but people are going to be talking about the meaning of "Muh symbolism" to give the game notoriety when there is literally nothing real that can be discerned from the teaser that isn't just vague speculation.
The teaser has no meaning outside of the context of the game, so releasing it before that is just to generate curiosity and eventually sales.
