The Golem was a proto infernal built in the shaoe if an Orc to forshadow that Medivh knew about them beforehand. Its clay was still wet which is why he was able to cut the head off. When it touched the magic pool it started to look more like a traditional Infernal.

I watched it with a friend. It was boring and generic, and they retconned a lot of things pointlessly and added a shitton of marvel "quips" and ebin "banter". It's not even worth watching, or hating, because there's no artistic, comedic or dramatic value in it. The props also look like they're from a porn set, and the scene with Garona and Lothar genuinely looked like it was out of a porno.
What's the best scene in the movie? For me its a tossup between the gryphon wrecking shit and Durotan's Mak'gora

The movie was great. I, as a longtime WoW player enjoyed it a lot and so did my girlfriend who was not familiar with Warcraft. 8.5/10.
I want to see Duncan's director's cut. I read in some interview that they had to cut something like 40 min of solid footage because the studio executives wanted a smaller runtime.. that would explain why the pacing seems all over the place. It seems like the movie received the same treatment as Kingdom of Heaven whoose theatrical release was retarded, while the director's cut is one of the best epics out there. If you haven't seen the director's cut do yourself a favor and check it out.
