Sony had the best CONFERENCE but that's different from "winning" in my opinion. Very little of what they showed was actually exclusive.
Meanwhile, Xbox had less big hitters but overall had not only more exclusive titles, but it also has more of them coming out this year, not to mention the cross-buy and cross-play stuff. Sea of Thieves, Deadrising 4, State of Decay 2, ReCore, Scalebound, et cetera.
South Park won, it was the only thing that caught my interest.

Sony by far. What did they mostly showed off and talked about for an hour plus? Games, and that is about it. They have gotten away from the tropes of TV and other BS, and just sticked with games.
The orchestra was a nice touch, then getting a release date for the Last Guardian, God of War reveal, and the games supporting VR were a nice surprise. Then seeing Kojima back was nice, especially how he is free from Konami.
Overall though, it was a solid E3. To be honest it seems like the last 3 years E3 and the companies have mostly gone back to focus on games, and good games for that matter. I felt like last year E3 was great, and the games that came out withing the last year that were shown at E3 have been mostly solid. For me, I already have about 5-6 games I want this upcoming fall schedule, then another two for sure in the winter months/early spring.

For me with the other conferneces, then with EA I only cared about Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1. I know those series are shun upon here, but I enjoy mech shooters, and I've wanted a WW1 type of shooter for a while. So far what they have shown for those games impress me.
With Ubisoft, then all I cared about was South Park. The new Ghost Recon game seems promising, but South Park is the only game I am sold on with them.
Bethesda, umm, why were they there? They had Prey and Dishonored, which looks fine, but otherwise it was just announcing DLC and a Skyrim updated remix. I passed that conference, besides Fallout 4 DLC which I was curious.
I only got to watch bits and pieces of Microsoft, and Scorpio looks neat, but otherwise I am drawing a blank with them. Also they are hilarious saying, "Exclusive to Xbox and Windows." Why get an Xbox when I can play on PC?
Then Sony came out and just showed games, and with some surprising reveals. It was simple, but well done.

But my confusion with your expectations is that it still is what they originally announced from last E3. If it's not great to you now, it shouldn't have seemed great to you then. Why were you hyped for it? It's not like they made it seem to have greater writing than it appears to have now, or greater combat that it appears to have now.
But anyway, though I don't expect too much from the writing just based on the type of game it is, I suggest you give it a chance. Combat shown so far may not be super deep, but it looks like a very fun game with a mix of adventure/exploring, lot's of action, RPG elements, and beauty.

I understand some Microsoft fans think differently and ultimately it all depends on your personal preference but there is no denying that the PS4 outsold the Xbone by a large margin. On that basis alone its fair to say that PS4 is winning the "console war." Now looking at this e3 do you honestly believe thats going to change? I really want another good Spider-Man game, but the trailer really was almost completely useless. It's nice that it was still all in-game, but it ironically still showed almost no gameplay as in segments where the player actually has control. It just skipped from cut-scene to cut-scene to special attack to special attack and so on.
The last Spider-Man games also showed off Spider-Man do all kinds of amazing stuff in the trailers, but it turned out they controlled like trash and that moving around in the city didn't feel engaging at all in spite of how the trailers made it look.
So ultimately the Spider-Man trailer is pretty damn useless. It's nice to know that they're working on a new game but beyond that the trailer isn't particularly informative whatsoever.

When was it not? Watching cutscenes of Kratos climbing all over the bosses for you to do quick time events that ultimately only leads to additional quicktime events, with everything about as much time as the actual fight itself and in certain cases even more time than the fights themselves. Was always a big thing about God of War, and those things weren't even the only cutscenes because the games had plenty of cutscenes outside of battles too.
That's basically as much God of War as you can get. So on that front nothing has changed.
If anything the only real difference is that they took time to characterize Kratos beyond the premise of being an angry dude for the first time.
Microsoft had the best conference.
