It was an ok E3. Nothing particularly has me hyped except for Death Stranded. It looks like it's going to be a surreal, sci-fi adventure. The Spider-Man game looks pretty cool too.
I was also really surprised and bummed when Sony ended their conference with that biker zombie game. Zombies are completely played out by now.

Very. Fuck man, I am normally very open minded and tend to like alot of stuff (especially shit /v/ hated from years back), but this year there wasn't a single thing I am excited for. All the conferences were boring as fuck full of cinematic gameplay where the MC won't shut the fuck up and explains every little thing happening on screen. Crash? Who cares. Scalebound? Slow as shit. Dead Rising 4? Yawn. The Last Guardian? Who cares. Nothing I saw today looked good. Also, E3 doesn't feel like the grand event it used to be. There isn't that huge hype before the event anymore. Doesn't feel important. TGS feels bigger now.
This has permanently been my face since Sony's conference.

If anything, i'm upset about FFXV(will wait for a PC version). Mild interest in how RE7 will turn out, and Microsoft seems to be aiming to have the best online infrastructure. Also got a new adventure game out of Detroit. There is some good that came from E3. Most of it was ass, though.

Honeslty after the absolute fucking trainwreck that was last E3 with absolutely nothing hyping me up I stopped caring.
I was tuning in and out of the conferences because I knew nothing they were going to reveal was going to excite me.
The gaming industry (or at least the AAA developers) has officially ran it's course into a creative wall. Nothing's going to be different than what has already been released.
Companies will only fund and release games they know will sell therefore nothing is ever trialed on. There will almost never be a new concept or idea that's thrown into the mix. Everything that was released this year and the next has already been done and debatably better.
Honestly I'm all for a gaming crash at this point. We need something to revitalize creativity because as it stands right now all the big corporations are basically throwing out games with gimmicks and mechanics that have already been done to death.

It's an event. People enjoy all the goings on, all the chit chat, all the other little things going on surrounding the conferences, the announcements, the meta stuff going on on the internet.
I wish they had more independent stuff going on like they do at CES, independent reviewers and hosts wandering around with cameras, viewing what's actually going on down on the floor, interviewing people there and stuff, that would really add to it all too. While I don't buy into Nintendo stuff at all anymore, how they evolved their E3 setup the last couple of years really added to the whole thing, We'll get a full day of content from them today if the last couple of E3's are anything to go by. Looking forward to the entertainment.

You're ignoring personal experience. I've been playing video games for 22 years now. I've seen RTS come and go, I've seen arena shooters being conveiced only to be replaced by Call of Duty, and so on. It's hard to get me excited at this point because I've seen most of the stuff that is being pitched to me these days, the actual quality of it notwithstanding. Chances are I have played it before several times now and I'm just tired of it. But you attribute it entirely to the games, which isn't exactly the brightest thing to do.
I do give you that the exotic middleware game has pretty much disappeared. It's either indie or AAA now - nothing in-between.
You're free to continue your "too cool to care" spiel. You might impress your friends with your high standards and how enlightened you are - they are probably as hungry for identity formation as you are. Everyone else however is just tired of your attitude and you're not doing yourself a favor in the long run.

i saw some battlefield 1 gameplay and it looks ok
just watched the god of war trailer and it looks like it might be cool
i saw some watch dogs 2 and it doesn't interest me in the slightest
i saw that Resident EVII got announced, thats cool.
oh and injustice 2 got announced a bit before and that intrests me, never really played fighting games but ive been getting into them recently.
The upgrading armor stuff looks interesting, im thinking it'll work similarly to the MKX variation changes but you supposedly have to get them as loot or something.
It'll give the game some more longevity

I was disappointed they didn't announce a new From Soft game. You just can't write articles they're working on several games and not announce them on the biggest gaming convention in the world.
When I realized that the VR hype is completely artificial.
Everything is going so shit, companies are desperate to find the next new exciting thing. It's literally just a speculative bandwagon shitloads of companies are jumping on, despite absolutely no proven commercial success (and many commercial failures in the past).
Even if VR were successful (unlikely, since they seem to be doing everything to kill it with their poor decisions) the market can't possibly be large enough for so many large companies to co-exist. That should immediately tell you that companies aren't entering the space on rational decision making, but just idealism.
The good hype about VR has just been created by the combined PR departments of dozens of Fortune 500 companies.
I'm so tired.

At this point, all I want is for Zelda to just not have weird intrusive shit. A goofy high concept like a train or a boat or whatever, fine, but I don't want to deal with being interrupted all the time. They demonstrated learning with ALBW, so as far as it goes I'm optimistic.
