I was under the impression that people bought consoles because they're cheap and have exclusives. The new Xbox in 2017 is no doubt going to be quite expensive for a console and it will have no exclusives.

Because MS owns Windows, which is the only way to play the game. Are you fucking retarded or something? Sony doesn't get a choice if third party want their game to go to PC, MS has a choice if Forza and Gears does. If a game comes out for Xbone and Windows, it's still exclusive to Microsofts platforms. Much like when a game comes out on PS4 and Vita, it's still exclusive to Sony Platforms.
