Sony is smart as that is keeping their local Japanese developers alive. Japanese game studios can't survive in just the local market anymore, and the export sales would at least give them some cash if they can't afford to release in the West officially.

There was a Adult-only VR experience demoed in Japan recently, but so many people turned up that it clogged the street outside. The cops were called and they ended up shutting the venue down early, and the organisers apologised and say they would book a bigger venue next time.

Japan doesn't give a shit about the PS4, not even DQ managed to get it going.
They're not going to pay 40k yen for a PS4 and 45k yen for a VR headset just to get a shitty tech demo.

Yamaha owns Vocaloid in general.
Crypton Future Media owns Miku, Rin, Len, Kaito, Luka, and some others I am sure, but not some like Gumi (Internet Co.)
Sega makes the Project Diva/Mirai games.
