Which one is better, /v/? I have both but haven't touched Fates much.
Out of these two? Awakening.
They're both better and shittier in different ways. It's hard to reach a consensus.
Conquest > Awakening > Revelation > Birthright
Fates is the better game mechanically, but I've still probably played Awakening quite a bit more. I think the nature of the optional content makes it more lasting.
Fates, obv.

Fates is better graphically, supporting cast and in everything gameplay
Awakening has a better protagonist and story
They are about the same in music
I'd personally say that Fates is better
They're both shit and barely even fire emblem games

The only objectively true list

This.
Fates had to have 3 fucking games to get it "right", lmao inexcusable. Awakening beats it by little margin.

>barely even fire emblem games
In what way? Fire Emblem is a stagnant as fuck series with little to no innovation. Awakening and Fates are both just more of the same copy/pasted gameplay with minor qol improvements here and there.
Gameplay? Fates, no contest. Awakening is a fundamentally broken game, absolutely unsatisfying strategy game.
Story and Characters? They're both cliche anime trash and the worst thing about Fire Emblem right now. Although Fates is slightly worse so Awakening edges out here as the lesser of two evils. Also Robin is at least a likable Mary Sue unlike Corrin who is just all around retarded.
Music is subjective, I liked Fates' better.
Graphics and presentation also go to Fates. The animations in Fates are great and make Awakening's look like ass in comparison.
So overall, I would say Fates is better despite both being pretty embarrassing for the franchise.

completely different to nes/gba games

Awakening = Revelation
IMO DESU senpai. Outside of that I agree.
