The medium went stale at the 7th gen

Buying a new console used to matter a lot more because it meant you were going to be playing completely new styles of game, but creativity has stagnated with the incremental increases in power rather than exponential

basically we are out of the arthouse phase of gaming and now it's just another art medium doing the eternal holding pattern, with just the smallest differences being heralded as revolutionary
