Installed Win10 over a fucked up broken install of 8.1 which basically fixed everything.
Disabled all telemetry, tracking, cortana and updates. Opted out of all "customized content", blocked everything with DisableWinTracking and Destroy Windows 10 Spying. Have monitored everything leaving my PC for a month, nothing has connected to microsoft I didn't allow.
All in all I am really pleased, but only because it made my absolutely fucked (and pirated) installation into a fully working copy for free. And now I can enjoy directx12.
I have not had a single problem with ANY GAME whatsoever, even older ones like Tiberium Wars that people say generally won't work on newer OS installations. All my pictures,torrent files, and program files remained. You need to reinstall a lot of stuff but it doesn't remove any files unless its outdated microsoft shit but you can just easily pirate the newer versions and open up any important files with that. I have no idea what you mean by Internet bookmarks. I use Chrome and my bookmarks save to my profile and I just log in and it transers. Installations are pretty fast. Several hours at best

dx 9 is only recently starting to get phased out seriously. And a lot of fixes for graphical problems in games is "switch to dx 9". Unless 12 is super fucking reliable don't expect it to be mandatory for any significant release for a long time yet.
