I wanna reply with some darkest dungeon story about failing a deaths door roll despite having a shit load of deathblows resistance, but I haven't played it since around official release.

Ironically recent souls games have this problem. Namely Bloodborne and DaS3. They seem to have just barely imbalanced the enemy HP to make it so during normal level progression you just barely don't kill shit. It happens at least half the time but you think you did since the meter is gone, but then they go for a free smack while your guard is down. Fucking aggravating.
