I'll start

Strike Vector: Everyone is in fighters that have unlimited boost and can switch between hovering and foward flight almost instantly, which also kills all their momentum. Is extremely fast and fun, but unfortunately, no-one plays it anymore.

Shattered Horizon
Really fun multiplayer space FPS. Realistic sound and momentum in space and the ability to go "silent". Going silent made you invisible on the radar to both your teammates and enemies, but you couldn't hear anything, including voice chat. Good for stealth, because picking people out was actually relatively hard.

Deader than a door knob.

On My Own is a survival game. Not Survival Horror, not survival fantasy, not survival co-op. On. My. Own.

It plays similar to Don't Starve, but good. The graphics are pixel junk, but they aren't so abstract you have to read a guide to figure out what you're looking at, and it is cheap. Like $8 cheap.

There is a demo for mobile too but the PC version is better. Will be even better after mods.

Project Reality was a total conversion mod for BF2 pitting teams of (usually) 50 against another 50. The game is essentially a standalone now and I would describe the gameplay as a mix between the likes of Arma and Battlefield. It's really entertaining to watch a team manage squads dedicated towards logistics, transportation, tanks, infantry, etc. work together. Don't bother playing if you don't have a mic though.

Way more competent than you'd expect, and has some great musical talent behind the BGM.

The Secret World. Mostly dead now which makes doing dungeons hard... fortunately most of the content is best done solo anyway. Enjoy figuring out Hell and Bach, even with a guide.
>>
>>341003362
Yes, and although there isn't subsystem targeting (ships getting crippled as they take damage is a bad mechanic anyway as it means if you're at an advantage your advantage grows and vice versa so the game is never hard but not too hard), you can do all sorts of things with energy. This ship saps energy on hit and gains energy when it is hit, and when overcharged it can't passively regen energy but it has 50% damage resistance and a 30% damage bonus.

>>341003603
In Ring Runner, you can do that solo!
>>
>>341004137
Its really good as a single player experience. I just wish a lot of the best content wasn't in the cash shop.
>>
>>341004184
You talk about something not being hard then talk about how you can easily solo something
>>
Wayward Terran Frontier. Having played the shit out of Starsector, this game is still in early stages and I've sunk 40+ hours into it's current build and they're working on a massive revamp that'll make the game a lot easier to create content for.

It's like Starsector except that you can go into ships' interiors. Additionally damage to your ship appears both on the interior and exterior, meaning that if someone blows a hole in the side of your ship it'll decompress and you have to manually go repair damage in the heat of battle if they hit a really important component.

https://youtu.be/SnziWHWvDI8?t=1298

As shown here; bit of combat, docking with an enemy ship and attempting to hostile takeover the vessel so you can take it back to your base and mass produce it later.

Notice the interiors of the vessels actually showing damage from the fight.
>>
>>341004630
I think a big mod or update for SS would be when boarding you enter a top down shooter mode. I think the creator said he'd be fine with modders doing it but right now he wants to focus on other things

Its like Strider, but you can do co-op with up to 4 players. It's only on PSN/XBLA though.

>>
>>341004384
I'm talking about how difficulty shouldn't scale with difficulty, which is something that happens when ships get weaker if they take damage.

It means it's rare that the challenge of the game will be hard but not too hard.

>>
>>341004784

>>341005495
nah, still chugging along

I'd pirate it if you're worried the dev will run out of fumes, but his progress has been pretty damn steady
>>
>>341004876
Well one of the primary things the next big patch is intended to do is make modding easier. I don't know how much is available at the moment but the game features it's own custom ship building for interior layouts and such. The only limitation is the 'outline' of the ship, so to speak.

Fucking dumbass devs couldn't sort their servers properly. Couldn't implement bots.

I liked Strike Vector a lot but the learning curve was impossible for me to introduce new players to, because it wasn't possible to keep the really high-level players from coming in and shitting all over the new players while they figured things out, and no bots to practice against.

>ObsCure.

Apt title, innit?

Play as group of students who stay after school to search for their pal who dissipated under suspicious circumstances in this Resident Evil meets Alan Wake little doodad.

Unlike our old pal Alan Wake, shining light just reduces armour, it doesn't render enemies invulnerable. Despite the fixed camera angles, you've got analog movement, so you're a flighty little fuck.

Nice OST too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU21vutCTUc

Now this recommendation does come with some caveats. There's a braindead retarded companion AI system that just walks into enemies BUT you can ditch them at the hub and they'll just fucking stay there. And you should.

Otherwise it's a fun little game, well worth it, on Steam. Use a gamepad.

I only wish that i could take down guards permanently and just don't knock them out for a while. Element4l

It's a plat former where you play as a bubble floating on wind. You can transform into an ice block to slide on slopes, a rock to crash down to build speed, and a ball of fire to launch yourself foward and bounce off walls

So it places as this crazy slope platformer where you have to use a combination of those to succeed. Despite being very cute and atmospheric it's actually really challenging.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/235820/

The trailer does a good job at demonstrating the mood and gameplay of the game but really oversells the story by a few tons and makes it to be more pretentious then it actually is

Here's the only decent video I cound find:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcoBoSV-m5w

prior to this point in the game for the past level or 2 the tracks suddenly had all their lights turned off and had hazards change poistiions along with sudden changes in movement, with the implication that something was "in the system" (since prior to this, again, it;s been tron like in aesthetic) trying to kill you.

Again, it's not ACTUALLY a horror game, but it has horror elements.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah I actually pirated it a long while back and played through a little bit of it so I was curious. I vaguely remember those parts but sure, it wasn't a strictly simple RACAN only game.

Virtual On. Made in 1995 for arcades (and with a sequel most people don't know about in 1999 that got a Dreamcast release), it was a 1v1 fighting game where you play as a huge fuckoff robot and try and shoot the other guy to death. Each player sat in their own cockpit, and the game had twin joysticks with tank-like controls. You didn't really have to rotate though, because jumping and then immediately canceling it, or alternatively dashing and then shooting would lock you on to your opponent immediately.

Fucking fun game. Sort of plays a bit like a low-key shmup where your opponent is responsible for all the shit that gets thrown at you.

scariest part of the game was when it pretended to bluescreen me

TBF Fract'd Space is in a way harder since you have to cap points and work as a team
unlike dreadnought where two tech ships can win you every game.

Not necessarily obscure, but a fucking gem for a game based off of a ok-at-best movie. Otherwise I don't buy a whole lot of obscure / unknown games unless off the recommendation of someone I know.

Can second this, best movie game ever

Controls are clunky as fuck but it's worth it.

I also really recommend an artbook for both the movie and the game called "The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island", which is fashioned after a field guide/biology textbook for the island and has a ton of worldbuilding for both. The art itself is fucking gorgous too.

Dreadnought's devs are still adding things, I'm pretty sure that game modes based around map control and CTF are coming at some point.
