Started the game a couple of days ago again and I honestly don't understand why Square Enix keeps caving to that deadweight.
The game is piss easy now, instances are nothing. Extreme variants of instances are what used to be the regular difficulty instances. I also leveled from 1 - 60 in 2 days, you just follow the main quest and never have to do a single sidequest or anything. Hell, your ilvl can be synced up if you're lacking.
This game feels incredibly dumbed down compared to the release verison, I just wanted to play a challenging mmorpg again.

I've yet to clear, and despite two full days of attempts have yet to even see fireballs. People just keep dying over and over to divebombs or from stacking targeted AoEs.
Anyone have any tips for healing Dragonfire Dive, particularly with regards to movement? I've watched the Mr. Happy video but it's almost useless if you're not a DPS.
I know I need to move to one of the top corners but everything after that is a blur of AoEs and people exploding to said AoEs.

There is literally one (ONE) mechanic in the entire fight and it's just a DPS check. The rreet is just dodging AoEs. Oh and a stack, I guess.
One feature they added that's been a huge success so far is Aquapolis. My FC is out doing stuff together and chatting over voice chat for the first time in months, and I regularly see 2-3 parties out doing the same thing when we're out map hunting. It probably won't last forever but for now at least it's a really fun little distraction.
Haven't made it past the 4th floor yet though.

Once you make the high tiers of an MMO easy, it's over. When everyone can get in first place, there's no feeling of accomplishment. Look at WoW, with LFR turning it into little more than a facebook game.
If you can't beat it, then git gud. Hell, in an MMO, you don't even need to git gud, you can just grind out better gear and git decent, average, even. SE has been pretty bad about making newly introduced content balanced for all applicable classes and combinations et cetera.
I remember when Garuda EX first came out and Melee DPS was basically not an option with how the fight was and the top gear available at the time.
Of course as higher gear becomes available the classes/archetypes that were overlooked in the encounter design slowly become acceptable, but it's still pretty shit.

The problem is that there's only ever a constant amount of difficult content, with old hard content being nerfed and just replaced with new ones, instead of being built upon so that there's a large amount of content that's both difficult and rewarding.

To be honest, healer quality is complete shit in this game. Every DF content in 3.3 can be solo healed easily but most healers can not cope with the fact that they have to actually heal now. And not just throw a Medica at random but actually make sure people are above 10k HP at certain points.
Nidhogg will definitely get nerfed, it's just a question of when. It sucks because the fight isn't even hard, it just has aoes that are actually lethal, but all you have to do is dodge them.

The nation states don't have a personality. They have a characature. Ul'dah is vaugely arabic, Gridania is hippies. And Limsa is Pirates.
Bastok was a nation undergoing an industrial revolution, populated mainly by the humes, the Galka were treated as something of second class citizens. Which was a big part of that national storyline.
San d'Oria is a proud kingdom, but one that is at it's breaking point as it's traditions are starting to become its undoing.
Windurst is the city of magic. Somewhat in tune with nature, but also quite keep with artifice.
Unlike the racial strife of Bastok, or the nearly entirely Elvaan Sand'Oria, the Mithra and Taru seemed to have a strong working relationship... if something of an antagonistic sibling one.
But, that's the problem. The National story lines in XI had a rather long stretch of levels and quests to flesh their story out.
In XIV, they all combine at level ten, when they unlock your ability to use the airships.

But the story is fleshed out for XIV. it is just that aside of the MSQ people rarely read the quests.
XI had a great story, but please remember than it had 10+ years to build it up. XIV is a new player in that regard.

FF14 is uncharted waters as far as MMOs go though because it has a singular main storyline where a lot of really important shit happens. They can't just ignore everything that happened in HW for the next expansion, because aside from the mostly self-contained Dragonsong War, it also brings back the Scions, Nanamo and Raubahn, who will surely feature in 4.0, as well as introducing other elements like the new emperor, Matoya, the Warriors of Darkness, etc.
The fact that they've cut down the length of the main story significantly per patch in 3.X compared to 2.X shows that it'll probably all still be mandatory. I can imagine they'll make a bunch of the filler from 2.X optional as well, like the memory lane sidequest at the end of 3.3.

It's been more than a year since blizzard released new content for WoW WoD, it coincided with the Heavensward expansion. He only used the Eye as fuel in place of crystals. Any amount of aether will turn someone into a Primal when combined with worship. The Eye doesn't have any special powers as far as making Primals goes.
