Hey guys, got a question.
I'm running through New Vegas + dlc for the first time. I'm playing a Ranger build, so I use Guns, repair and a bit unarmed. I'm level 24 now and doing Old World Blues. I'm having to fight a lot of robots here and my guns hardly dent them. I'm stuck using an antenna to beat them up, since that's the only thing that seems effective.
Guns I have are: Anti-materiel rifle, That Gun, This Machine, A light in the darkness and a hunting shotgun.
Any weapons I'm missing that could help me deal with these robots better?

What were everyone's choices for their first character?
Mine was a steadfast and self-sufficient Hispanic lady who signed on to work for the NCR as soon as she saw what the Legion did to Nipton. Tagged guns, speech, unarmed and later sneak. Wore light or medium armour, settling on Elite Riot Gear, and used the Ranger Sequoia, fully-modded hunting rifle and the Survivalist's Rifle for her main weapons. Favourite companions were Boone, Raoul, Veronica, Rose and ED-E. In the final battle she lured Legate Lanius into a C4 trap, then beat him the rest of the way to death with her spiked knuckles.

It's very easy to understand, but not really worth playing because the AI is bugged and doesn't follow the rules. Just sell shit, it takes maybe 10-20 caps of bullets to kill a guy, and even a shit tier melee weapon alone can make up the difference.
I'm doing side quests the best I can but I am still no match for the enemies I face along the main story. I've just launched the ghouls on their great journey, which was really tough for me but now I don't stand a chance against the enemies I face!

The AI absolutely follows the rules and the game is really, really easy.
Just make your deck with nothing but 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jacks and kings and you are a god at it.

And you have a bunch of 25 combos which win 99% of the time. Just use whichever Jacks you get to sabotage the best columns on the other side (or Kings if you have spare) and you will literally never lose.
