The first time you level is amazing. The cata world revamp fixed questing so 1-60 is incredible. 60-70 will probably be less fun but it will keep getting better up until max level. Dungeons and raids are good but you can only keep repeating them for so long especially since no raiding guild will want a newbie this late so you'll be stuck in lfr. You'll probably get bored after a month of lvl 100 content after getting decent gear because it's literally

I just saw that shit tonight, anon.
I don't think it was that bad. Yea, there were a few scenes where the CGI was poorly done or that one scene from the .webm where they fight in front of the dark portal and the actor in the forefront is sort of just shimmying...
but that scene lasted less that 5 or so seconds. Honestly the worst part of the movie to me was how heavy handed they went with diversifying the cast. It was awkwardly jarring when there was suddenly like a 19 year old woman in a full plate who was supposed to be a high enough rank to be in the palace armory. There were asian and non asian elves, and it was half the side characters need to be 5-10 years older. They looked like WoW cosplayers in some scenes.
All that being said, as someone who at least knows the lore up until cata. I thought it was decent, I enjoyed it enough that I didn't feel like I didn't get my moneys worse out of the experience.
Orgrim Doomhammer was pretty alright, and I wish they named Grom but the few shots he was in were appreciated. They also showed Kilrog in some scenes and a bunch of the warchiefs. I felt like there was a lot there for people who were warcraft fans.
I can totally see why critics who've never played the game would think it was garbage though.

I don't feel like typing out a full crackpot theory right now but after reading the warcraft chronicle I honestly get the feeling their leading up to one. In the warcraft chronicle its mentioned that the universe started with light expanding out but eventually parts of it faded creating void, when they eventually challenged each other the universe was born. If the legion is coming back and we do unite as the army of light and defeat sargeras we'll have defeated the biggest threat to the universe and there's nothing that can really stop the light at that point the naaru will be free to spread light everywhere. Eventually though some of that light will begin to fade and a new void will be born leading to the recreation of the universe.
I doubt that they'll stop making wow expansions any time soon but I feel like they're reaching a point where they could very easily break off and make an alternate time line to make new games in while keeping wow going, essentially what they just did with the movie universe.

level scaling.
Fuck level scaling, I think it should be a BASIC FUCKING GAME DESIGN RULE that you should allow your players to contrast their power when relevant, such as in RPGs or games where you are able to get upgrades to your power.
This fucking scaled level system is the most heinous game design I've seen blizzard produce, and they've fucked up on a lot of levels recently, such as with the new talent "trees" and the artifact weapons.

I don't care what anyone says the Vanilla revamp was a terrible decision. WoW questing was never rocket science but the Cata quests follow an even dumber formula and are just neutered Vanilla quest.
New Duskwood is embarrassing with how short the entire zone's quest lines are and how little time you spend there
Add that on top of decreased experience requirements, dungeons giving to much experience and overall new class design the low level content is too easy.
Then you consider it from a story perspective for a new player. A lot of the revamped vanilla zones are just wank off material for people who had been playing for years. A new player has no reference to any of the callback characters or quests.

I agree with this. There are a lot of other nonsense that sounds like garbage in Legion, but all level scaling does is further reinforce the sense of a single player RPG with the added bonus of obnoxious nuisances bouncing around in the form of other players.
It should be a varied world, not a world that adjusts solely based on the player. That shit would be totally cool for scenarios, challenge mode type encounters, etc, but for the leveling to be scaled seems stupid as shit.
I know it's a meme to call WoW a lobby game but I honestly had expected Legion to correct a lot of that. I want to go out in the world, not have everything be a fucking gimmick on top of a gimmick.

I'm ashamed to admit i loved the vanilla revamp in early cata, actually the prepatch. I thought it was a fun way to create the illiusion of a changing world, plus gave me a fun excuse to level a new guy without it being boring.
However after the 2nd go-through of that I realized how streamlined it all was and how much the leveling experience (which at that point wasn't stellar anyhow) had lost. Basically putting the dungeons-as-one-long-corridor philosophy and translating it into leveling. Was fun the first time but now is even more of a chore as there's really no choice about how you level, at least questing wise.
I hate to "vanilla was better" fag, but it's true for the revamp by far.

You have to approach this from a marketing/business standpoint rather than a storytelling one. That's what Blizzard does. WoW is a serialized story - the objective isn't to give it a proper ending, but to keep it going as long as people are interested. String the audience along, introduce new threats/character while old ones are erased.
They do have a drastic jump but I think you're overestimating both the jump Legion will benefit from and underestimating how big the decline will be.
The hype from Legion is nowhere near that the hype for WoD was. WoD had former subs coming back in droves, people who hadn't played WoW in years were discussing it. Legion has normal wowfags talking about it and that's about it. For the resubs it does gain, for many this is the "last chance" on being burned again.
WoD hitting 10million again was unforseen. Legion won't, but if they don't report numbers all this barking may be meaningless anyhow. It's really too bad as you would think blizz would learn from how steep and godawful that sub decline months into WoD was, but WoW is clearly not their priority and it shows. They seem to double down on poor decisions or take entire xpacs to address constructive feedback.

Am I the only one who hates how they've handled adding new races to the game or at least how their starting zones are handled?
After Dranei and Blood Elves the new races starting zones are now all phased areas with forced linear narratives. Before you had the freedom to just walk out of the starting zone and go to another one if you really wanted. Now new races are just anchored to their starting zones and you can't even go back to them when you're done.
Gilneas is this huge awesome zone and city yet after the worgen opening there is literally nothing in the zone. Blood Elves got the entirety of Silvermoon City and all of Eversong forest and the npcs didn't just vanish when the quest lines ended.
Cata as a whole just seemed like a really sloppy rushed expansion

I liked it and a lot of my old freinds I used to play with liked ammo and gathering shards/mats for spells as well, it was a big part of the atmosphere and getting drawn into the world.
