Streets of LA is so goddamned buggy holy shit. But fucking around with the bugs is kinda fun, especially driving through fences. It's like Platform 9 3/4 or some shit.

>>340809743
The GC port, which i played, doesn't have a block button like the PS2 version does. On the GC, you hit the control stick away from the enemy. Keep in mind half the time Nick just runs the other way. It's unremappable too, so you can't just replace the useless jump kick button.

>>340809929
Is New york worth bothering with? I mean, if i cared enough to download LA, that is.

Dead Island.

>Pick Logan, the throwing expert, cause my friend picks the sharp weapons expert
>eventually build "dev weapons," which are semi-secret OP weapons that break easily, but have special effects on crit like electrifying or exploding the heads of zombies
>throwing a weapon = no durability loss
>skills make the proc happen almost every throw
>procs extend to groups
>tfw throwing a dagger and exploding the heads of an entire gaggle of zombies

It was super broken, but the whole game was a zombie killing power trip for me anyway, so I fucking loved it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzF6wszbOow
>>
>>340809380
I still love this game
>>
>>340810882
It also had a gimp lair with zombies.

Streets of LA is a bunch of 80s action movie cliches stapled together in glorious harmony.

I don't know why no one ever seems to remember that at the time of release the open world put just about every other open world to shame. It took fucking ages to drive across the map.

It got panned pretty hard in reviews due to being a new IP, rough around the edges, and heavily derivative. Everyone, players and critics alike, looked at it like a GTA clone instead of an 80s action movie tribute/parody. Then they fucked up True Crime 2 pretty hard with marketing build up that backfired and releasing the game in a less polished state than even LA had been.

this

dead island isnt a great game. but its not nearly as bad as anyone says it is. and its far more interesting and fun that dying light which basically just added stupid parkour shit.

something about dead island just works. the 4 player coop, driving and island setting help a lot.

i dunno it just werks
>>
>>340813120
Yeah, they had the game finished but no one wanted to publish the third part of a shitty series whose last game was almost 10 years ago AND was surpassing bethesda and ubisoft in glitches, a fucking shame because sleeping dogs got good reviews, decent sales and is fun to play.

Heavy Rain is legitmitaly a good game. Or you can quote "game" if you must, not all games are the same format. The story is interesting and designed in a way thats perfectly told as a branching narrative where players can make choices or decisions affect what happens who lives, if you catch the killer, etc. It's brilliant. But people just regurgitate memes and fall into the status quo hate of it. It's not fucking bad at all. Not like Beyond Two Souls

The gameplay is still really fucking solid and an overall fun game when you allow yourself to play the correct way, despite the whole premium plants and paying for coins to pay for power ups. The power ups they give you during fights are already good enough.

Also Modern Day is by far Popcap's Magnum Opus, right next to Garden Warfare 2

Heavy Rain was legitimately a great game, contrary to what /v/ would have you believe. It was a point and click adventure game with actual gameplay, had God-tier atmosphere, and actually changed the story depending on your choices/failures.

I liked Beyond as well but I don't know what went wrong. David Cage took everything great about Heavy Rain and bafflingly reversed it. You can no longer fail QTEs, your choices don't matter for shit since the game is told out of chronological order, it's less a point and click adventure game and more just walking from cutscene to cutscene, and your ending isn't determined by your choices or fuckups, but by a bullshit selection you make at the very end of the game, regardless of how you actually played. I don't know what the fuck he was thinking.

I hope the new game is more like Heavy Rain desu.
