As someone who sort of knew the lore (as much as, orcs didn't come from Azeroth, and WoW-times-stuff), I really enjoyed it.
It wasn't hard to follow, the things that were changed (Guardian dying, orc-lady not betraying, Dallyan frying) didn't seem to upset my Warcraft full hardcore nerd faggot friend much. The CGI was bad at times, but seeing Stormwind and that one flyover shot over Elwynn was absolutely fantastic. Most of the combat was really good, probably poorly choreographed but I didn't notice.

I don't know much of the lore at all and I still enjoyed the movie.
You're pretty much thrust into the world and everything starts moving at a near break-neck pace; if you try to keep up and understand everything, you're going to be lost. If you just sit back and enjoy the ride, it's a fairly tight movie that doesn't hit any dull/slow points along the way.

The CG looks okay on some parts, and absolutely terrible on other parts. Every time an actor is alone on screen with a CG character, (like when Lothar threatens to kill the orc if that wolf comes any closer ) the actor usually dosn't move at all, because they don' know what they are supposed to react to.

Also, this movie was too fast paced. There were a lot of places and locations that would have made understanding where they were in the world really confusing for someone who didn't have the map memorized.
The fist fighting was waaay too shaky. Hard to tell what was happening in the fist fights because so much motion blur.

I didn't even play Warcraft 1 and all I could tell you is that: the Warlock tries to take all the orcs to Azeroth because their own world(Outlands) got tainted by this Fel thing.(Fel Magic from Kil'Jaeden Smith?)
Afterwards the Humans start to recognize that orcs have been raiding villages so that Guldan can summon the village. So the King tells the good orcs(Durotan clan?) to stop but the bad orcs ambush both parties.
So then the King's right hand man's son gets murdered by one of the bad orcs while his father was a few meters away from him because he couldn't do anything due to Medivh's chain lightning(Whatever it's called).
Go to the future the bad orcs raid the good orcs and the momma orc goes to the river and performs some Moses type shit and sends little baby Thrall down the river. A few seconds later momma orc dies( I swear the child down a river was from a religion.)
Medivh(Same one from WC III) then gets corrupted for some reason(Serious fuckup, how was he corrupted?) and corrupts his mana pool so he could summon the Dark Portal.
Medivh gets stopped. The King tells that the only way for peace is to get Garona to kill him instead of that huge ass bad meanie orc with claws for honor.
She kills him then everybody lives happily ever after.
