Not very realistic, but not pure arcade either. Good entry point for casual fun.
Has good features like great and varied maps.
Has annoying features, like unskippable cutscenes and QTEs couple of times in game(3-5 times).
So it has some flaws and has some good points I don't get to enjoy in other games.

Neither NFS:The Run or NFS 2015 are serious. Just that NFS is super casual to the point where it bit silly.
Both games work well with a controller.
The big thing that The Run has over NFS2015 is map variety, weather variety, time variety.
In NFS it's always night, always raining, always the same city.
The best NFS2015 has is more customization.
If you want to jump in and ride through the country the run is better.
If you want to drive around the rainy city at night and customize your car, then NFS 2015.
(There are of course other racing games that suit different tastes as well)

Keep going through, there are some secret quests that are only available in the hardest difficulty and you really don't need to grind to get to max level. The coolest weapons items aren't really available until after you've started the second difficulty either.
