Basically in Street Fighter when you block, you take chip damage. You block simply by holding the opposite direction, eg if you are attacked from left you hold right.
In the video Ken was so low on HP that if he blocked he would die to chip damage. So his only option was to parry each and every single hit. A parry is where you move the stick in the direction of the attack at the same time, and the timing on this is vicious, about 1/10th of a second. For Daigo to parry every hit of Chun Li's super and turn it around is nothing short of ludicrous. He was required to hit inputs lasting 1/10th of a second in rapid succession without dropping a single one and he did.

Mercy can jump to teammates in her line of sight.
Mercy falls off the stage, which would usually mean instant death because that pit leaves little for lines of sight to teammates. Bro Pharah (who has a limited jetpack basically) hovers over to let Mercy jump up using her line-of-sight jump, so Mercy doesn't fall to her death.

In reflex FPSes like this one, 2 seconds is a long fucking time when it comes to enemy encounters and being properly prepared is what shifts the fight in your favor when you're dealing with someone who has similar aiming ability to you and you both encounter eachother at the same time.

I absolutely can do this shit, I do it all the time. I stomp with every character on the roster because I have 45% accuracy when the average is 30% on the high end. Aura is extremely viable because her healing station effectively gives her much more HP than she has. Her move speed is also one of the fastest in the game and she has an infinite range SMG.

Actually, due to the spread mechanics it's better to walk a corner, never jump it. Jumping in combat is also a bad idea.

As much as I loved Trackmania Nations Forever, the skillcap wasn't really that high. Unlike many others however, the game was great for spectating as it was easy to understand and the noclip ensured the constant fight on every round and turn, which couldn't be said of any other competitive racing game present in the scene at that time.
With that said, is the game still alive? I suppose not much since TM2 Stadium isn't free.
