Why do so many shooters not allow these two basic functions? It makes the movement 10x better and it's something that makes sense. It's completely possible to shoot while running, and also reload.
What are some games that let you do this? I know Battlefield lets you reload while sprinting, and Killing Floor 2 lets you sprint backwards

It's a "perk" or a custom loadout thing because not many people can do it without training. Also, with heavy gears, back-sprinting is shit and you'd be better just turning around if you need to get in the opposite direction in a hurry.

It's also completely impossible to hit shit while running and reloading would take 5x the time. Not being able to reload or shoot while sprinting is balancing the advantage of going fast.

There are games that toss the ammo in your spent mag, and that is done purely for balancing reasons aswell.
You can do any combination of both in Payday 2 but that game sucks dick.
