-Start in Ul'Dah
-Focus on the main quest
-If you want to do sidequests or optional dungeons on the side, consider leveling two classes side by side, since the main quest usually gives all the exp you need
-Go through the options early on and change all the terribad default settings for UI and controls and such
-Be sure to do the sidequests that unlock gameplay features, I think the new patch gave them a different icon finally
-Try making friends/joining a guild that will do level 50 content with you and let you watch cutscenes, etc. A lot of the best content in the game is at level 50 but since it's old and everyone is level 60 now you'll get a bad experience with the automatic party system
-You can also use the Party Finder to recruit specialized groups - people are often eager to join newcomers because they get a bonus for it
-If you don't care about story, just refund it already
