People say "Fashion, because I can just make up for the rest in skill" but...
What about JRPGs where you're basically just trading hits until one of you dies? Unless you're willing to put in the time to grind until you're so over leveled you just steamroll everything you HAVE to take whatever the best gear is at the time.
Honestly though, there needs to be more games like Xenoblade Chronicles X where you can wear gear for stats but wear other stuff for fashion that goes over it. Otherwise I'll be looking at cutscenes where everyone is dressed like fucking sci-fi clowns since everyone is wearing mismatched pieces of armor.

Fashion when it comes to headwear. I hate it when you can customize your character's face and hair, but then the game hands out a billion hats and helmets (with stats) that cover the head up or force you into a bald, short hair, or tiny ponytail style.
It can be annoying to mod in hatless versions of everything.

The thing I liked about SoulsBorne is that generally everything is a combination of fashion and stats. Maybe not if you mix and match certain gear but generally you'll look nice.

It's kind of lame that 90% of the enemeis are armored, but I really love games where slash/stab/crush damage actually makes a huge difference. DS2 you could even 2h your fists for a big dumb hammer swing that would just pulverize skeletons into dust faster than any sword.
