Can we get a monitors thread?
I'm currently sat on a 27" 1080 monitor which is nice and all, but i've got a 980 so i'm looking to do some 2k stuff, perhaps even 4k (outside of gaming) of course
Doing research, people seem to think that 4K is a pipe dream right now, even at 60 without very good hardware, and that 2k at high fps is the way forward. However it would be nice to do some other stuff in 4K such as browsing/watching video etc.
What monitors does /v/ play on? Is the Widescreen meme just that, or is it worthwhile? How about Gsync?
Acer XB271HU is the one i've been looking at right now, 2K, 144 refresh rate, 27", IPS, 4ms response and G-Sync, seems to be going for around 600 bongdollars
thoughts?

No, post more Raichu by that artist
I use two ASUS VG248QE on a mount. It's pretty good. I never used the whole 3D thing though.
I will upgrade at some point to 4K.
I just bought an Acer b6 b296clbmiidprz.
29" 21:9 2560 x 1080 monitor.
4K is pointless. The screen being so large just means you'll sit further away and it's still just 16:9 ratio. G-sync is useless unless your monitor refresh rate is considerably higher than your frames per second and even then it's largely a waste of money because the benefits to cost is so low.

G Synch is great because it remove tearing.
And 4K mean that the pixel density is higher. Which mean better image. You dont need a larger screen to see the benefits.

Exactly, it's in fact the other way around, where 4k for a TV is not worth it, while 4k for a computer monitor is (as long as your computer can handle it)

Well it's worth it for both, but for PC it's even more important since you sit 2 feet away from the screen.

I sit about 4-5 feet away from a 40 inch 1080p tv and 4k would make an incredible difference

Sure, but that's the thing, you dont usually sit next to a TV, while people sit next to a PC. But usually the ratio stay the same. You wont sit next to a 40 inch PC screen and not see the pixels.
I'm not upgrading to 4k monitor x2 until Cyberpunk 2077 has a release date and will build a brand new PC for it too.
Until then, I'm using same setup as >>340676845 with 980ti.
