To expand on this, I wasn't able to find specific numbers relating to nations, or even on a geographic basis, but around 4 million non-white soldiers were involved during WW1. That includes Indians for the British mind you, and it could include Chinese and Japanese support, but that is still a rather large number all things considered, and a very important role that is often overlooked.
I liked BF2, Bad Co 1 and 2, BC2 Vietnam, and kinda liked BF3 and BF4.
A rebalanced class system, since BF3/4 had shit classes, and lower tech to make piloting tanks and aircraft more fun is all great.

Exploration, communication, inter-cultural exchange happens when there is something to be gained. Simple trading is a neat way at the start, but creating trading posts is a perfectly logical first step, followed by competition meaning you have to secure your hold on those markets.
For trade to reach Sub-Saharan Africa you'd have to have some semblance of either already colonial or soon-to-be-colonial powers going there to circumvent the Ottoman block of Asian trade.
With the thousands of years of technological difference between the Africans and Europeans, whatever you do, you will end up with a fundamentally unequal relationship. Nation Y is all nice and only wants some mild trade? Too bad, nation X is a bunch of dicks OR tribe Z hears of the nice traders from afar with wonrous goods and decides to rob and murder them all, pissing off nation Y.
A Europe that wouldn't end up dividing Africa between its naval powerhouses is a Europe that wouldn't be in possession of trade networks or technology to benefit Africa at all (or it would not have the means of getting there).
