>more people bought returns 3d than TF
I know the 3ds has a much larger userbase but still.
>people wonder why DK got little content and fighters in "for WiiU/3DS" than Brawl
the K.Rool costume was some sort of special bone than a hidden fuck you from the director
>recent titles are MvDK shit again

yes
It was already dead before Returns and Tropical Freeze sprung some life back into it.

Nintendo IPs that aren't Mario and Zelda are dying.
I hate to admit it since the new games are gorgeous and fun as Hell, but... the market interest just isn't there. Donkey Kong doesn't really have a place any more. The nostalgia that Mario and Link have going for them isn't there. The cool design and vibes Samus and to a lesser extent Fox McCloud has isn't there. The DK crew aren't nearly as iconic as any Pokemon or the Animal Crossing cast member. I want DK to succeed, but I never, and I mean never hear anyone talk about Donkey Kong outside of a select few friends that grew up on DKC 1-3 or some on 64. I'm a substitute teacher and mostly teach at middle schools and overhear game talk a lot, and when it comes to Nintendo games it's always "Man Mario World is fun" "Smash is great" "Zelda is so epic!" "POKEMON IS SO FUCKING AMAZING HOLY FUCK MOM" and "Hey you wanna visit my village in Animal Crossing?" when Nintendo comes up. Any time DK is brought up, it's always "Eh, it's okay, never played it."
It sucks, the games are great but the target audience is so niche it doesn't stand a chance holding up against a new Zelda or Mario anything.
DK will never be as successful again back in the Wii/SNES days
