Anyways, about Heroic mode there are less enemies at any one time than usual but each one the game sends at you are tough as fuck.
They can even walk through a cyclone and proceed to whack you in the face right after.

I decided to give the PS2 version a whirl since I don't have a PS3 nor a Vita and I gotta say, the combat is clunky as hell but damn, this game is still pretty even after all these years.

Since hard gives you such a huge boost in final points, you get so many good rewards racking up S and A ranks that when you get to the bosses, you can destroy them by throwing everything and the kitchen sink at them.

Fusing it with food give it the best "experience" points. Some ingredients like cheese and cocoa will also level the material without turning it into something. There's no harm in mistakenly turning into a potion you don't like though. You can still make a Lvl.9 Healing potion into a Cyclone by simply combining it with that Mandagora that normally makes it.
Also, fusing 2 alike potions seems to have an experience bonus.
For example, assuming the base is a cyclone then combining it with another cyclone yields more experience than another potion that's equally leveled.

Infuse them and/or the potions you make with them from food.
As you progress in the game shops will sell higher level ones so you don't need to waste as much food.

I'm sure you saw other anon's post, but at lvl 9 it give your 100 percent exp boost. All you need is any material and some milk. Always use yogurt before meals...ALWAYS.

Also wanted to mention that when you use yogurt and enter the Pooka cafe or kitchen the animation around your character will disappear but the effect is still in play. As a side note, it's sometimes better to buy multiple cheaper meals than it is to go to the very last page and buy the latest/newest meal. You end up getting more hp and exp overall eating a bunch of small meals. Reminds me of how health professionals say smaller portions are better.

kinda. Alchemy is simplified compared to PS2 version. All potions now act as basic materials and there's no multiplication mechanic(iirc you could mix lv2 and lv3 materials and get lv6)
Milk is easy to come by(2nd walkthrough of forest practically drowned me in it) and you can buy it in some places. I only finished Gwen's story but the only rare ingredient is rugworth herb and even then you can just buy the seed but have to spend 40 phozons on each.

You can buffer it. If you don't play fightans, that means you can input it before your current attack ends.
I pretty much use it only when an attack is blocked. So say they block my needle strike, I just hold down square while that attack is playing out and then release when it ends. It also has guard break properties.
It works nicely out of your roll too.

If you do get it remember that apart from the 4 basic shortcuts you can assign for special skills, you can also put in custom shortcuts for any other skill you want to be able to use without having to enter the skill menu. Combat difficulty goes up and down when going from character to character after finishing the previous story but navigating through areas did become more complex when I changed from Gwendolyn to Cornelius.
New mechanics were introduced such as needing certain equipment or potions to get through obstacles or there being areas where if you fall you fall into another area and have to circle around to get back up to where you were due to it being too high. Trials (optional challenges in the stage) became commonplace when they were in only a few of Gwendolyn's chapters.

they're actually intertwined. It's a story told from 5 different perspectives. Once you complete everyone's bookyou get the Apocalypse book which is basically a boss rush where you choose a character for each boss.

Doubtful. If I had to hazard a guess, Muramasa got the extra characters because of the complains of Momo and Kisuke being the same character, so they added more characters to round out the experience akin to Odin Sphere.
OS wouldn't really gain anything from more characters aside from padding out an already somewhat padded out game. You'd need something to accentuate the new gameplay like a boss rush or a 100 man dungeon. Or the lvl 97 mission from Muramasa.

Why is Dragon's Crown gameplay so bad compared to Odin Sphere and Muramasa's? What the fuck were they thinking with the clicking and rune mechanics? I also fucking hate how you lose your weapon after using a special ability, which encourages players to equip two or three weapons at time to keep rotating them, abusing cooldowns. Plus, there's too much item management, you literally have to keep track of 9 bags full of items with different durablities and skills by the end of the game.
Anyone else feels the same way about DC? I like the game, but it's the inferior Vanillaware title I played, in my opinion.
