I fucking hate this game's artstyle. It didn't go for realistic, it went for smallhead Chad artstyle, giving every character a cartoon small head and a proportionally big body. This encouraged smallhead Chads like Ronaldo to be seen as "attractive" to the mainstream person, smallhead Chads who look athletic simply because they have small heads and their shoulders look bigger. I fucking hate smallhead chads so much, especially since only 40% of the population is smallhead, giving them an unfair aesthetic advantage.

Writing complements the gameplay, by making you engaged in what you're doing and why. There's not a single game that's been made worse by having good writing that wouldn't be even worse if the story was terrible, but also present in exactly the same proportion.

Fallout 4
The writing might be shit and the RPG elements might be dummied out, but you gotta admit about Fallout 4 that it is, from a gameplay point of view, much better than the predecessors.
VATS is no longer an all-out "lel you aim you hit you kill" item, and it feels much more dynamic than before. You actually have to think quickly during a battle where to aim with VATS compared to other games where it was essentialy a pause button.
Shooting people outside of VATS is actually reliable now because you no longer miss at point-blank range while unzoomed and you actually hit from a moderate distance while looking down the sights/scope
Fallout 4 has much less game-breaking bugs than Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Fallout 3 was somewhat buggy while New Vegas was released AS A GOTY WHILE THE NCR STORYLINE WAS EASILY BROKEN. Mods could fix it, but why the fuck are you releasing it as a goty while it's a glitch orgy?
Weapons and armor no longer have a "durability" meter (thank God) and now can even spawn with special effects attached to them.
Although the gameplay might be nice, the story and RPG elements are still shit and dummied out respectively, which makes the game semi-enjoyable.

Everything about FO4 is a downgrade. The VATS was a downgrade, the fucking graphics were terrible, half of the music was literally rehashed from FO3, the RPG elements were a downgrade, even the story was a downgrade. SPECIAL was downgraded, skills were removed, fucking perks were terrible.
Sure, I will admit I had fun in FO4, but it is plainly a disappointment. It was obviously rushed out the ass to get big bucks in time for the holidays.

I'll agree that the Father of the Caves makes for an excellent bit of storytelling [hell, halfway through Fallout 4 I've stopped paying much attention to terminal entries since most of them have nothing interesting], but the DLC as a whole is quite mediocre and nowhere near the standards that Old World Blues and Dead Money have set. Joshua Graham is great, but he doesn't salvage the entire thing and I actually rank is characters beneath the writing of some of the Fallout 4 companions.
In fact, this is another thing I hate about Fallout 4. It has some interesting ideas for companions, but the dialogue system being so gutted means you can barely interact with them, and their quests are nowhere near as interesting as the quests for the companions in NV.
I'd say it's a case of "great concept, horrid execution".

It's cringeworthy as much as you'd expect dialogue ripped straight from a superhero comics from the 50s to be cringeworthy. That is to say, immensely. The dialogue is not mandatory though, and it only appears if you're wearing the silver shroud coat, so you can just approach it as you would approach any other quest.
I'd say it's one of the few bits of content of the game that actually stands out.

Not just a building or dungeon, an entire open are of downtown Boston, which blocked off a dozen quests including the main story. I noticed that playing it that way even bypasses what would ordinarily be a rather difficult charisma check for the final confrontation. It's a little bit of smart game design, whoever was behind that quest certainly knew what he was doing.
But the problem with me saying this, however, is that praising even a tiny aspect of a game such as a single quest makes idiots take it as you praising the game as a whole, because understanding nuance is for the weak apparently. Fallout 4 is not a good product in the context of the franchise its named after, but it managed to make me smile in a couple instances, like that one quest, and what's more surprisingly, in the final quest for the Automatron DLC where you're going through the Mechanist's facility and seeing how screwed up the people at Robco [I believe it was Robco?] designed the Robobrain production process.
Seeing the BoS airship was also quite jarring for someone who's used to the static nature of their overworlds.

Thing is, there's really no way to take a excerpt out of a game full of dialog and have it be a good example of "good dialog". This is easy with stupid dialog, but there's no real way to write something so well that it stands out as great all by itself.
Passages from great, classic books seem like pretentious nonsense by themselves. Good writing takes place over the course of an entire work, not in little, easily-quoteable bursts.
New Vegas accomplishes "good" dialog by having dialog that's consistently appropriate for the setting and characters. Every character speaks from their own background in the world; they didn't just write up some wacky characters and then sprinkle them anywhere. New Vegas' script actually takes the lore and setting into consideration, along with an absurd amount of SPECIAL/stat/faction checks in the player dialog. This makes for a much better RPG.

VATS still feels generally the same. The only thing it seems like they added to it was that it doesn't pause time now, which is better, but nothing amazing. You certainly don't have to 'think quickly' during battle with VATS at all. Not sure what you're talking about there. It's basically the same as it was. Shooting outside of VATS was never really an issue either. It wasn't the best, but it still worked well.
FO4 still had a fair share of bugs just like every other Bethesda game. Some people run into a lot of them. Some people never get any at all. Nothing worth mentioning here.
The durability in Fallout was actually pretty neat, though. And even so, I wouldn't really consider removing it a huge plus to the gameplay.
And RPG elements are a huge part of actual gameplay, too, so that still counts as a part of the gameplay in general. It's not just the shooting parts.

The VAs themselves are pretty chill about the whole thing. Male VA really didn't think the game needed voiced protags, wasn't completely convinced on the whole idea of it.
Also said that in some situations, all he had was the line and not the script. So he had to just improvise on what he thought would be appropriate.

Speaking of the chosen one, is a combat playthrough of Fallout 2 in any way realistic to accomplish, considering that the final boss fight is a giant with an AA gun in a room with a dozen turrets? Even with ridiculous grinding there is no hope for a third turn for the player on wimpy difficulty. Fighting through the entire Cathedral and killing the Master is like stomping ants compared to the fight with Frank.

The Legion's in particular seems to want to put way too much at stake in exchange for too little in return.
If Mr. House's plan goes wrong, New Vegas will be just another city in the wasteland, not the shining furnace of industry that he promises.
