I'll come out clean, I honestly dislike Sony to a great extent, for reasons I won't mention here I'll just say that I consider them no better than Microsoft.
That being said, no it's not that big of a deal itself, it's another version of the same console, nothing really new, it has been done plenty of times actually, but I don't think that's the point.
The point is that the library of the PS4 is, still, incredibly lackluster, and they are releasing the second version while that is still the case.
The only value you get out of getting something earlier is getting things earlier, but in this case the value anyone has gotten for getting their PS4 early is damn close to "fucking nothing".
The problem, I think, is that many people now think that they should have just waited, since they got a console, waited for 2+ years for games and they now learn that they made the wrong choice all along.
Would you rather wait 2 years for games with a paperweight on your table that will play games later or wait 2 years with nothing, then be able to play games better?

The 3DS was a clunky pile of shit that needed an upgrade to even run MH4 properly, the PS4 fucking doesn't.
Also, the Wii U will be almost 5 years old when the NX hits.
I have a really low-paying job and need to support a family, so I usually just buy used consoles from the previous generation. I only just got my used PS3 a few months ago, and I'm probably gonna wait for until the PS5 gets stabilized to grab a PS4. It's probably not the optimal way, but it's letting me avoid situations like these.

Heres the truth of it:
"PC Master race" Can't seem to fathom why people would prefer consoles over PC when PC is more versatile. Sure. They're right, PC is more versatile, IF. you have a customized, well built rig. Most people don't. Most people can't be assed to go and build a PC when all they want is a basic internet browsing machine. 75% of /v/ uses laptops with piss poor power and claim to be master race when they can run a simple game like just cause with minor stuttering.
But in actuality, all "Master race" are people with little to no social lives. You built a grand PC? Neat. You have 3 giant plasma screen monitors? Cool. Now ask yourselves this. Whos going to care but you? Its an ego trip for you people. A console on the other hand, is far more efficient. Most people by default have social lives, and thus have TVs, the common man would invest $500 into a large flat screen TV over a PC monitor. Why? Because people who have friends over (ie us) like to entertain. Am I going to invite my friends to my cramped bedroom and have them sit at my PC and squint while I play my games? or am I going to invite them to hang on the couch, while we both can comfortably and efficiently play games?
