Finally beat the last boss, and just went for the generic link the fire simple ending.
But, jesus christ that was about the most uneventful ending to a video game I've ever seen.
Not only was the last boss less than epic, but the fact all you do after you beat this guy is hurr link the fire, i'm just gonna sit here while the screen fades to black, I mean, come the fuck on. No monologue, no directors cut, no cinematic through the world showing a change/reaction based on the events?

At least the other souls had a decent last boss. This guy was just a slightly oversized humanoid with the same basic, but delayed, movesets.

Ds3 = roll the game

Dark Souls 3 actually has several different endings
1. Link the flame, standard, the flame is linked for a few more years, until the next ashen one/chosen undead/whatever comes and beats him up
2. Don't link the flame, the firekeeper stays alive, the world falls into a world of darkness, the player character ends up like ludleth, and the firekeeper senses the flames in the distance
3. Don't link the flame, kill the firekeeper, presumably the be all end all to souls
4. Ursurp the flame, take in the flames power and become a pawn of kaathe

DS1 = shield
DS2 = balance
DS3 = roll
