I used to play fps with kb/m all my life. Now i am in a strange moment in my life where i play gaems on a console. For the first couple of weeks i felt like i played with two broken left hands. Now, while its significantly less accurate that kb/m, its servicable and im having fun. Blizz admitting that pc would smash consoles isnt offensive. Sure, they could make some proprietary M+KB for Xbone and PS4, but I imagine that at this point it's a poor idea. Imagine you're an Xbone owner, and you're a filthy casual who doesn't play PC FPS games, and never have. Statistically average at CoD and all that, you love it anyway. One day, you hear something about Microsoft releasing the Mouse and Keyboard One (tm) for the Xbone, but you pay it no mind. It really is an entire different world how consoleplebs play the game compared to PC people.
KB+M demolishes console controllers. But the implication that Overwatch is balanced or "competitive" in the first place is flawed.
The REAL reason is xplay would surely take some additional effort on Blizzard's part and Blizzard are lazy. WoW let them become even lazier than ever, since they were raking in fuckloads of money every month for doing nothing. At least back before WoW they'd take goddamn forever to develop a game, but they had to make sure the game was GOOD since they didn't have a golden goose.

Makes sense controllers have a very high skill ceiling that requires thousands of hours to master but any retard can master a keyboard and mouse in a day. Very few people get good with controllers but when you do you dominate consoles. I max out the sensitivity on my controller in overwatch and I run circles around most people. As someone who owns Overwatch on both PS4 and PC, I can tell you that it's almost an entirely different game.
On PC, thetc KB+M make it feel faster than it actually is, pulling off shots and spinning round to get your target. On console however, since you don't have the precise control of a mouse, even with those hitboxes, or the same speed to aim with, the game feels a lot more slower pace.
I bought both as playing on PS4 feels relaxing, on my sofa with my big TV, it's a pick up and play game, but PC feels like the platform to play it on really, and there's loads of people I know on the PC version also.
Cross platform between the two consoles, which they are considering, would be extremely interesting and a lot of fun to play. But right now, Overwatch doesn't need PC versus console unless there's a way to separate the people playing on controller, like GTA does.
The only reason Rocket League can work cross platform is because there's no specific reason to play with keyboard and mouse. It doesn't make you more accurate.

If you truly can´t surpass your abilities with a controller after a month of acllimatisation to mouse there might be some motoric impediments involved, because at their core, both mouse and controllers are equally unnatural input methods for something that emulates walking and aiming - something our brain does not associate with wrist and finger movements at all.
