GTA5 is better overall, but GTA4 was unbelievably good for 2008
Gta IV is better for the physics alone. They actually made a step backwards with vehicle deformation. Its also way more fun to push people down the stairs in IV.

GTA IV got so many details right, that even though V is a better game overall, it's jarring how much it's lacking. Why do police never arrest you but just shoot? What happened to the collision physics? Where are the interiors in free roam?

This. Just finished playing through Gay Tony for the first time the other night and it was fun as fuck.
Good length too, I don't understand why full GTA games need to be 30 hours long when most of the fun is just dicking around with the open world anyway
