This. I lost the ability to be truly and authentically hyped for anything after this. Now every new release, no matter the source, is bundled with a hefty dose of skepticism. Its also because of this I can't imagine No Man's Sky is gonna be any good.

Recently? Dark Souls 3. I went around completing all the NPC quests after beating the game and ignoring everything and there are so many sad things that go unnoticed. I thought it was the "happiest" in tone too.
So many of the NPCs fucking kill themselves.
