Between GOG Connect and Galaxy, I have enough reasons for giving it try. Two questions?

1. How often do they give away free stuff?

2. What are some GOG essentials (things I can't get on Steam)? I'm looking at Planescape:Torment and Classic Anno Series right now
>>
>>340470675
GOG Connect has very few games and Galaxy is still not as smooth as Stream. It will get better over time, but it's not there right now. Just make an account. System Shock 2 is free today as you probably know.
>>
No idea how accurate it is, but for your 2nd question:

wow, i got it for free right now, because i saw your post

Cool list!

they're giving away system shock 2 on GOG btw

Better list here since that last one I can't seem to find the first third of the list (_2 works though for the middle third)
>>
>>340470675
A few times a year.

Should I get Tropico 3? I got 4 a few years ago and loved it but haven't played in a while.

And which Anno?
>>
>>340472073
Can't you go for Tropico 5? Better the same but with more, than the same but with less
>>
>>340471359
You're getting awfully worked up over a game you could pirate nearly 20 years ago.
>>
>>340472662
and they had my payment method the whole time, i only had to set my regional currency
>>
Valve hands out free games all the time.

When Vac issued a bunch of false positives to cod mw2 players, everyone got their ban removed and a free copy of L4D2

Zog lie about hating drm when you have galaxy
>>
>>340470675
Hey, if you buy a game on Steam, you get the game on GoG for free!
Look it up.
>>
So, is this Galaxy thing hassle-free enough to do for the free SS2?
>>
>>340474169
It's a client with achivements you have to download. Around 128 mb
>>
>>340474331
So can I download this, get my free SS2 and then delete it, or is this some Origins shit?
>>
btw there is summer sale on gog with a promotion to earn "exp" to get free games, pretty awesome
>>
>>340474591
The only way to win is by buying a game first. Even with all the goals and daily exp, you're still short like 600 exp
>>
>>340474432
It's Gog so it's DRM-free. Never heard of gog before?
>>
Been slowly trying to make it my digital store of choice. They seem to be getting bigger which is nice. Sadly big publishers are sadly scared of the idea of selling their games without DRM.
>>
>>340470675
>GOG Connect
It's been out of service since it was released.
>>
>>340474432
Download GOG galaxy, sign in, redeem System Shock. It'll be added to your library, you don't need to download it.
>>
>>340474432
Just fucking torrent System Shock GOG version and be done with it.
>>
>>340472662
This is pretty cool though, and I still have my original disc.
>>
>>340474956
It'll never be Steam. It'll always be the backwater men's club. DRM-free is a neat thing they're trying to push and they wouldn't be in the field still if EA or whoever was funding them.
>>
>>340475512
I know. Just happy to buy from them than Steam. At least they have fucking quality control over there. Yeah it's mostly indie but at least we know it's not fucking unplayable. And their return policy is infinity better than Steam.
>>
>>340475034
That was only for one out of the 5 days the early titles where up actually.

Anyone got a spare code i tried downloading but it closes as soon as it starts?
Help, will dump in return

What is this image? Reverse slut-ification? Why is this so damn hot.
>>

Its an edit but still pretty hot the actual one is bimbofication

Does DRM free mean I can download the game file front the client and then have the copies of the full game on my computer with the exe. file and everything?
>>
>>340476039
Spare code to what?
>>
>>340477159
SS2
>>
>>340476039
It's actually better like this
>>
>>340477283
There isn't a code. You just go to the store on Galaxy and download it
>>
>>340477098
All my gog games have the exe. available

they tend to download in chunks, with the exe launcher by itself first, then generally 3.9gb chunks each until the full game is downloaded, generally 4, 5, or even 6 full parts.

They do some sort of gog installer where you agree to a EULA before it installs the game when you launch the exe after the full game is downloaded, i haven't tried copying the files between computers or giving the data to a friend to try installing, I'm not sure if it'd work
>>
>>340477098
Redeem the copy from GOG Galaxy. Sign into their website and download the game separate anytime after.
>>
>>340476039
99F16-F4C2D-46FB3-25BBD
>>
>>340477098
The client can download and install a copy or you can get an installer separately, either through the client or their website.
>>
>>340474795
i bought one master of orion 1&2 for a ~$1 and they gave me 1500 xp
>>
>>340474795
and deus ex less that a dollar gives you 2600 exp
>>
>>340478315
>>340478895
Considering the games being given out, I'm not going to waste money on something I don't care for for something I don't want.
>>
>>340479141
yeah, it is spelunky game, not terribly hot stuff
>>
So, is the account name you use for registering also your username, or you can change that later?
>>
What are some hidden gems in Gog's catalogue bros? I feel like I haven't liked much of anything I've seen, but surely they've got some great games hiding in there
>>

I got elder scrolls for free when I bought quake 1 and 2. I missed out on getting duke 3d for free but they did give it away years ago. I got dungeon keeper free, Fallout 2 and tactics I missed out on 1 because the servers were so damn busy that day, AvP for free, and now SS2 free of course.

Evil Islands
>>
>>340479705
carmageddon 2 running over zombies and smashing cars to iron maiden is actually fucking great and its on sale today
>>
To anyone wanting the free SS2 without installing Galaxy shit, just change your browser user agent to 'GOGGalaxyClient/1.1.11.56'.
>>
>>340479705
Duskers. New but worthwhile if you see it on sale.
>>
>>340473434
>Galaxy is DRM

You don't know what that word means do you?
>>
Here's hoping Banner Saga 2 goes on sale sometime during this Summer thing
>>
>>340479613
Anyone?
>>
>DRM-Free
But I already play DRM free games on Steam.

What makes the GoG client so special?
>>
>>340481073
you can't or else I would change the retarded name I picked haha
>>
Something that really interest me about their library is how they have al the god-tier city builders. Feels good to have Anno 1404 without the "3 installs, then fuck off" rule.

What are some old classics with great pixel graphics? I'm a shallow man.
>>
>>340481165
>Username I use in everything else is already picked
Fuck
>>
>>340481106
My Galaxy client still manages the GOG games I never paid for like Cryostasis and the power rangers-like game.
Pirated Steam games need to broken away from the dynamic steam libraries or steam will catch them and you'll get in trouble.
>>
>>340480261
thanks anon.
>>
>>340481106
That it isn't a client. They sell you the .exe and there you go. And every game is DRM free rather than just a handful.
>>
>>340481349
this desu senpai
>>
>>340481349
This basically. Why do people think non-GOG installers need cracks? They have to "break away" from Steam.
GOG games load up anywhere, anytime, infinite number of times and can connect with the same copy over LAN or anything really.
>>
Anyone ever tried Bloodrayne?
>>
>>340481909
No, anon. No one has ever played that game.
>>
>>340481909
It's fun.
What do you want to hear?
>>
>>340482247
I was curious if anybody knew anything about it, I like stupid vampire shit
>>
>>340482351

Blast niggers, beat niggers, suck niggers. With some jumping and platforms thrown in.
>>
>>340479834
>beth want to remove fallout classics from GOG
>GOG says, fuck it, before their removal, they are free from everyone who wants it.
the absolute madmen.

im amazed by how low their prices are on this summer sale, got hotline miami, perimeter, spacechem

well there's no point in gifting a game that's being given away, but good on you regardless

idk, maybe some poor schmuck might take it without knowing that GOG is giving it too
>>
>>340472073
The only Tropicos that matter are 1 and the latest.
>>
Just make an account and wait until their library is up to snuff.
>>
>>340479883
Definitly this

>That magic system.
>>
They have come a bit from just selling abandonware with fan patches. But not much.
>>
I would bother using their service if they had cloud saves and actually made themselves stand out to use their service. As it is right now sometimes modern games don't even get patched as quickly as they may on Steam.
>>
>>340486169
Their slogan is "DRM FREE" not "NEW SOCIAL VIDEO GAME SERVICE"
I'm sorry it doesn't interest you.
>>
Can I still link my Steam account with it? If so how?
>>
>>340486547
https://www.gog.com/connect
>>
>>340486469

Having game patches is kind of important my friend.
>>
>>340487109
I jumped the gun on criticizing you.
Yes the patches are slow and yes the games aren't backed up to your GOG account.
The first one is a real issue and the second defeats the purpose of their service.
So I guess I don't understand your post in relation to the thread topic.
>>
>>340479705
Buy all of the Tex Murphy games, anon, I beg of you. Including the new, Kickstarted one from last year.

Tex Murphy is a series of detective stories with FMV cutscenes, and it's damn funny. Each game is good.

>GOG

You're LITERALLY paying for someone to pirate a copy for you. Any actual CD keys they get are second-hand acquired or promotional.

GOG will not sell anything that can't be cracked. (IE Prey PC because MP keys can't be cracked and used keys can't be resold legally)

>Galaxy

Pointless spyware disguised as an update manager.
>>
>>340488406
I believe you meant to say G2A for that, or whatever the big Key-Reseller site is.
