I really want to make Jam work, but she seems like way too much effort for way too little payoff. I LOVE using Kum though. She is tons of fun and reminds me a lot of SF in the way you play her neutral. Her super is basically all versions of Aegis Reflector combined too. Raven is cool, but honestly the projectile ruins him for me. I'm just so sick of Xrd being all about oki projectile setplay. It's really boring and I feel like Raven could have been a lot cooler if he had a different special move instead of the projectile. At least Kum's is interesting.
As for the game itself, it's still Xrd and it's still fun though I would like to see some rebalancing alongside Dizzy's addition. It's fun playing the new characters as the game feels fresh again, but then I also ended up fighting tryhards using Elphelt and Johnny and already the fun was starting to wear off.
I will say though that the game already feels dead. It has more players than Xrd did at the end of its lifespan, but not by much more, which is a really bad sign imo. It's not too hard to find games right now, but it feels like day one Xrd again which I know what that means: by the end of this week or next week most people will have stopped playing already.
Hell I already see a lot of the same exact people that played Xrd and were on every time I signed on. The community for online Arcs System Works games just does not grow and all you'll see are complete novices or gods.

I'm having a ton of fun with it as someone who does not really know how to play fighting games that much. Although I do agree that it feels like it'll die pretty quickly, which is a shame, because it's god damned good.

The DLC is free for the first couple of weeks. I waited on Sign myself and ended up paying almost full price for the game because I wanted all of the characters. More people are going to be online early on too.

It had 3 locks and the random select icon. We don't know for sure that the unsymmetrically placed random select means that we'll get another DLC character. It would certainly be great if we did, but I don't think Arcsys has said anything to suggest it.

I never had a problem with Elphet and Johnny. Even when my shit gets kicked in by Johnny I don't mind since I just like seeing the character in action. Biggest personal thing that's driving me crazy is all the fucking Raven players out there. He's a tricky character to figure out fighting at first, but he does have his actual large windows to attack which is why I'm not saying he's cheap or anything. However win or lose, I'm just sick that every other match is against him. He really does feel like the new Terumi of Guilty Gear just from the sheer volume of people playing him. Thankfully though I don't absolutely hate Raven as a character like Terumi and think he's cool, but still the Raven parade is really making my patience thin.

Most likely in the next game, since the returning NPCs that appeared in Sign (Johnny and Dizzy) ended up being playable in Revelator. If there's three returning characters in Xrd 3 relating to their appearance in story mode (Baiken, Zappa and Robo-Ky) that'd also match up nicely with the three returning characters in Revelator (Johnny, Jam and Dizzy)

I'm pretty bad and I can't play this game with a fight stick, just can't do inputs fast enough, with a pad, I can do inputs fast enough but I mess them up a lot too, like often accidentally triggering z-motion stuff and all that.

Git gud, and I don't even mean that in the meme way. Practice drills! Guilty Gear has pretty strict inputs, it doesn't have shortcuts like Street Fighter so the only real way is to practice. Remember that as good as it is, a stick's just a controller; it's not going to make you better at inputs just like how buying a $150 steering wheel won't make you better at navigating tight corners in a racing game.

It's from an early working version of Xrd. Back then Sol was still using his pachinko outfit, which is why it appears like that in story mode.
Anyway the character was going to be some dude pretending to be Sol. He was going to be like a Dan version of Sol. I'm actually really bummed he never made it in. I would love for him and Robo Ky to come into the game at the same time and work together.

Well when using Jam you're fucked no matter what. She's hands down the worst character in the game and has absolutely nothing going for her.
Against Axl you just need to be aware that he has strong AA and has a good DP. A lot of his pressure tools and mixups are gimmicky. As an Axl main, I can say that the best way to deal with him would be to use him in training mode and learn what normals actually can chain into each other. Once you know that you can have a much easier time knowing when and what to block against him.
Also the recovery is quite high for his long ranged moves so if he ever whiffs something make sure you immediately close the gap.

Maybe it's because the cutscenes of the game like the story line were rushed due to deadline. There were some bugs in the story mode like people mouths not moving when talking and characters just fixing together in the background. The Japanese version didn't even come out with a full story mode and had chapters patched in after release.

I agree. BB's dub is one of the best I've seen in a video game when localizing a game. They really went all out to make sure it is an enjoyable experience and I vastly prefer it to the Japanese voices.
I was excited for GG to get the same treatment, but holy shit it was pretty damn bad. It got PS2 dub treatment. They hardly tried at all. The translations were iffy, there was spelling and grammar issues in the text, and the voicework was shit. The casting was bad with only a few of the characters being good voices. Plus, Venom. HOLY SHIT VENOM
Sin's relationship with Sol is completely different in the dub. The way they translated it was shit and failed to capture any of the nuances. It makes him sound like some stuckup punk going with Sol just to avoid his father, but in the Japanese version you get a much better sense that they do have a father/son or mentor relationship.

Objectively speaking, SIGN's dub was not really good.
Like at all - EXCEPT for Slayer and Axl's voices which were perfect.
Most others were not bad, with Sol and Ram being the absolutely disgusting exceptions
But it was good enough to perfectly match the silliness of the story and I found it super enjoyable
Now that's gone and a bunch of the new chracters in Revelator have ear shattering voices (Jack-O and Jam are so fucking annoying and this is on top of Elphelt)
And new JP Slayer is nothing compared to the original

The dub just has him sound like a sophisticated intelligent guy. It's a great performance, but poor casting. It's kinda like how dub Faust fails to have his serious voice, which is a bad issue. He needs to be able to contrast his goofyness with a serious voice during the situations that call for it. He still sounds like a fucking clown even in the serious moments.
I could go on and on about how bad the dub was. Slayer's voice was stupid as fuck too. The accent wasn't needed and it makes him not even sound like an old gentlemen anymore. I-No and Millia have the same VA and she sounds almost exactly the same for both though she does a good job. Johnny's voice is stupid ans having him share a VA with Axl and Q was a bad idea, especially since that VA is infamous for approaching every single character the exact same way.

Wasn't it something like he never turned himself into a gear but did a number of procedures/transfusions from things in the backyard, sourced by raven iirc, to keep him alive over the years and these procedures had various adverse effects on his body? If he was using animals or monsters or whatever, maybe that's the result. It would explain the sort of hodgepodge mix of features.
The last GG game I played was AC and some of AC+R. I absolutely loved them and was going to buy SIGN, but none of my favourites returned and I knew they were going to push out a new version, so I thought I might as well wait for that to come out and hope they include my characters. It doesn't, but the game still looks fun as fuck. Seems to have really great features like the lobby system, good netcode and general great presentation.

Who are the characters? If you say Dizzy is one of them she is going to be dlc for this game, by my guess at EVO. If it's Baiken, Robo Ky or Zappa, all three showed up quite a lot in the story mode so they have the biggest chance in being playable in the next gameor maybe even this one if the rumor of another dlc character is true.It's up to you since there are new characters you can try out that might tickle your fancy.

My favorite is Jam but because of waifu factor. In playstyle, I love every single newcomer, because not only feels diferent, but also changed the meta. That being said, Kum is easily the one who im getting too hard for main, mostly because I suck in SF.

Depending on the version of the game they would just use background noise yeah. You could always manually pick his theme in later versions, but it stopped being the default I think after the very first time he was playable.

I spent about 3 hours today in training mode after completing all his trials in about 30min, a personal record for me in this game. He's so ez mode in his combos/mixups, Sin looks hard in comparison. Think I found a sub finally.

Revelator's lobbies honestly strike me as a step backward. Most of the people in each lobby aren't even using the arcade machines they are in other modes or in player matches or something. It's amazing how hard it is to find a match in the regular lobby and if you do there's so much fucking loading in between each match.
But then again when I think back to the original Xrd, all that was was everyone in the top right American lobby all sitting on a single cabinet, meaning if you wanted to get matches you had to sit in these fucking twenty minute waits.

People dont use the public lobbies because they are broken and you cant easily rematch.
After the first match you play you get a minute of desync after returning to the lobby. That's why you get situations where you sitting on the chair with someone else and then get kicked off and someone else is in your spot. To the game you were never in that spot and it doesn't figure out until a minute later.
Private lobbies dont have that problem and you can get into matches immediately

Both of those characters rely more on links, so you need to learn to not mash with them. You can get away with some of the links by mashing, but some won't work. Both of them rely on very strong, hard-hitting normals.
Slayer is more about getting reads and conditioning your opponent while tricking them up with invincible dashes. Don't forget that you can dash through attacks and people to confuse them. Slayer makes really good use of Roman Cancels because of the insane damage output he can get from landing just one counter hit.
Haehyun is much easier to play, honestly. Aside from the directional inputs on her 263K, all of her moves are simple to do. Moreover, she has a dive kick, easily abused normals, better oki, and a projectile.

If you're super scared, make your own room and set the room type to Casual or whatever it's called. A good portion of people who purchase these games play it for the zany plot and characters. It would be a hard blow on the consumer base if they did an unpopular shift. The game may have really dedicated players, especially in Japan who probably spend 8 hours a day in the arcades just to gitgud, but the popularity of the side materials like radio shows, merchandise etc make up the actual bulk of the series' fans.

Anyone feel like sharing some I-No tips?
I have a pretty good grasp of I-No's combos, but I absolutely can't approach people properly. How do I do that? Fighting characters like Axl and Faust, or anyone with good, long-ranged normals or quick projectiles is hell. I can get under some stuff with stroke the big tree, but if you use it more than a few times it gets very predictable.
Also, what's a good way to make people respect your pressure as I-No? I've played a few different people that were constantly mashing 5A when I was on them and pressuring with j.S, j.K, 2K and I couldn't find any way to deal with it.
