They only considered standard Naruto for Gaara's feats and accomplishments and completely ignored Shippuuden (even though they used his Shippuuden sprite) while they took all of Toph's feats, even the ones that were simply implied.
The fact that they ignored Shippuuden, which Gaara in that part has accomplished greater feats that Toph ever did is why many people are upset with the outcome, especially when Death Battles resutls are mostly based on a characters feats and accomplishments that decides their victory.

I'm not saying to use game mechanics for both, i'm saying BECAUSE halo is built around it's lore (the first novel came out before the first game), and Doom isn't, the fight should have never happened to begin with.
If they wanted to do halo vs something, they should have done The Arbiter Vs A Predator; since elites in halo are heavily based on predators (The 4 mandible mouthes, the cloaking, the MUH HONOR, etc), and they are roughly the same height.

Based on what you said, you probably have checked out the newer Halo novels, in which cased you missed out on a really good one focusing on the elites back when they first formed the covenant with the prophets.
It's called Broken Circle. It's actually really good. Not quite Ghosts of onyx tier, but it's pretty close. All the novels in general after the garbage that was the final kilo 5 book have been pretty good, actually.
There's also Shadow of intent, which is a novella by joe staten (the writer for bungie back when they were doing halo, aka the guy who litterally wrote 60% of all halo lore), which follows Half jaw/the Shipmaster from 2/3 after the events of halo 3. That's also really excellent.The kilo 5 books themselves have a lot of parts taking place on Sanghelios after the events of Halo 3 and them trying to learn to not just be warring douchebags, mirroring the Azuchi-Momoyama period in japan when the samurai had nobody to fight. IIRC there was a scene where Goku kicked up a cloud of dust and Frieza just attacked into the cloud blindly. That inspired Goku to hide underwater and launch delayed attacks that successfully tricked Frieza into thinking Goku was somewhere else. Which let Goku sneak up on him.

Everything in the story of the games, as well as the gameplay itself are abstractions. Canonically, there were weapons that only showed up in Halo 2 and 3 in the locations at the times stuff in halo 1 was going on, the fact they weren't in halo 1 isn't canon.
Another good example is that in Halo 5, the Arbiter is shown belonging to a specific subspecies of elite just because they gave every elite the same model to save resources, despite him canonically belonging to another one.
You just straight up cannot use the games as a comparison point outside of specific events that happen in the story, such as "MC did this", and even then HOW he did it as shown in the games isn't necessarily canon.
Also, all that said, even going by in game values and not the lore, MC is still walking around at 20 mph and running at like 36mph (which is actually canonically accurate anyways). The reason Halo feels slow is the environments are actually just realistically scaled rather then being warped for perspective and such in many other games.
