I have some serious trepidation about this game though. Thematically, mainly. The Malik replacement being a hideous and strong independent woman of colour doesn't bode well. The videos they're putting out with actual actors are absolutely terrible. Completely embarrassing, not something I can take seriously. Game seems almost too topical, too inspired by and reflective of social justice themes and movements going on in real life presently.
Feels like they've amped up that kind of narrative quite a bit but I'm hoping it's not the case. That it's not that shallow and transparent.
Also it's gone from the entire game up to the first boss fight leaking and being pirated en masse months before release and the developers treating it like an unofficial demo after the fact in good faith, to Denuvo.

In the Deus Ex: HR trailers it was all about finding his kidnapped lady friend as the driving motivation with the overall theme being his unrelenting determination to keep fighting against these shadowy, conspiratorial forces of great power. The latter part is the core theme of Deus Ex and always has been really.
In all the Mankind Divided trailers literally all I've seen as the entire story talking point has been this "mechanical apartheid" and it's getting to the point where it's verging far too much on present day references. I don't consider the scenarios and how they're marketed all that comparable... They outright reference Anonymous as well down to the white masks which is just embarrassing honestly.
Human Revolution had some cringeworthy real life acted promotional material as well but it didn't compare to what they're doing with the promotion of this.
Either they're just pandering hard in the lead up or there's legit reason to be worried about the potential direction they're taking.

I can't stand SJW shit but cyberpunk is pretty much the perfect place to explore themes of social injustice and inequality since that's pretty much ingrained within the genre itself. One of the most basic tenants is classism and a wide social divide between poor degenerate street people and obscenely wealthy corporate people. It deals with xenophobia, multiculturalism, racism, even identity politics. It's literally the perfect environment to explore topical content and themes because we're literally about a decade away from much of HR actually being possible. Fully realized prosthesis, "Luke Hands" and feeling prosthetics are about a decade from mass market viability. The world of Deus Ex really does closely mirror how out own is unfolding especially when you have shit like the TPP and all the SOPA-like bills going through Congress affecting potential global censorship.
I understand disliking socjus and tumblr bullshit, I can't stand it myself, but you've missed something along the way of you haven't realized the entire genre has been this way for a very long time.

Deus Ex is about conspiracies. Sometimes those conspiracies will tangentially deal with these sorts of issues (among many others), but they are not themselves the main thrust of this series. That's what HR failed to understand, and they only continue to demonstrate this lack of understanding in it's sequel.

Ignore the original unless you're super into outdated games, Dues Ex is the Doom of FPS-RPG's and it's age shows far worse because of it. Do not under any circumstances play Invisible War.
Human Revolution gives you two options, buy the original release, it looks better and performs better, but the boss fights are terrible and the DLC is seperate, but worth picking up.
Or buy the Director's Cut, which mostly fixes the boss fights, comes with the DLC, tweaks the levelling and energy systems to be less constricting and adds in a New Game + mode and developer commentary.
But they removed the amber tint that the game was designed around, and certain parts just look worse for no reason, and it performs worse.

The level design is just as much a let down. Small and linear. No large open areas like in the original. Both go too far into the future with environment design. HR adopts the overly clean apple aesthetic. Mech's are no longer clunky monsters, but sexy and sleek, high precision operators. Helicopters might as well be spaceships for how they look.
Still no skills. The augmentation system is a joke. Most are absolutely worthless. One (hacking detection chance) "unlocks"an ability you already have at the beginning. The system requires the player make no choices. By the end of the game you'll have easily unlocked every single useful augmentation and then some. Whereas in both the original and IW you're forced to make actual choices in your progression.
The story in HR is retarded. None of the antagonists are properly fleshed out. Every single aspect of the narrative revolves around the dreadfully boring augmentation debate. IW, by contrast, focuses on the conspiracy from the beginning of the game. Factions are defined early and you're given multiple opportunities to choose sides and make decisions with meaningful impacts.
IW has universal ammo. HR does not. But IW has stuff like this:
