I'll start: Luigi's Mansion

Hotel Mario

Can't think of a single one that'd work well.
I'd say Mario is the closest, but the characters are so devoid of personality these days
Zelda wouldn't work because with a beginning, middle and end, they'd need like 4 hours to do it justice
>>340428142
Really? You can't think of ANY?
>>340428142
>I'd say Mario is the closest, but the characters are so devoid of personality these days
The comics show that it can easily be don'e, The right people need to handle it... without Nintendo's added impute.
>>340428142
Mario is a terrible franchise to adapt, despite it being a big brand, as it's basically impossible to represent all the weird random wacky crap and turn it into an acutal plotline.
Shit like Pikmin, Chibi-Robo or Starfox are way easier sells.
>>340428142
Metroid or Mother?
>>340428142
>>340428358
There was already a mario film, kids.
Fire Emblem
>>340428606
Mother wouldn't make sense as it's a game and story about the player.
Metroid would need a hell of a screenwriter to sort out that hot mess. We know what happened last time Nintendo tried their hands at the I'm cinematic thing
>>340428142
>I'd say Mario is the closest, but the characters are so devoid of personality these days
>these days
>implying the Mario & Luigi games aren't the only games to actually give them personalities
lmao
Doshin the Giant

I think the shorts proved that Pikmin could be adapted fairly well. Not as a film perhaps, but maybe a show or more shorts. While a direct retelling of the games would seem the most obvious, I want a sort of nature documentary focusing on the individual monsters on the Pikmin planet. Kind of like a compilation of Olimar's reports on the creatures from the two games in animated form.
>>340428606
>Metroid
I can't think of any films it could emulate to get an impression of how it'd be. Maybe if they handled Samus's exploration and conflict like they handled Batman in that new Batman film, maybe. The biggest problem I can see with Metroid is that it needs to somehow be a colourful picture that still conveys the dread of isolation.

Daily reminder John Woo's Metroid movie was literally the reason Other M happened
The script revolved around her origins and Nintendo freaked out because they thought they should be the one to fill out that backstory
>>340428968
>Implying the M&L characterisation is canon to the larger Mario mythos
Those interpretations of the characters would never be allowed in a modern Nintendo looking to capture the film market.
Shit would work, it'll just never happen.
>>340427947
Splatoon. Doesn't even matter if it's suited or not, it will happen anyway.
Good thing the franchise IS actually suited for that though
Live action pokemon with cgi.
>>340429021
>Pikmin with Pixar-tier visuals
>>340429175
Why, its not like Super Mario RPG
M&L is directly made by Nintendo
>>340429343
That's literally already happening tho
>>340429429
Nah, they're contracted off by Alpha Dream
>>340429447
Proof? Googles showing nothing besides fan films and speculation.
>>340427947
>Luigi's Mansion
Literally already exists
>>340429740
THR, a major trade publication were reporting that the rights were being auctioned, means it's happening even if no-one has acknowledged it officially
If they do Zelda it has to be some kind of original story, You can barely adapt any Zelda's story into an anime let alone a movie
Pikmin.
>>340429773
Luigi is hornier and much better than Eddie Murphy
It they're gonna make a Zelda movie, I hope Link doesn't talk.
>>340427947
Eternal Darkness
1080
Crusin'
Wave Race
Animal Crossing- oh wait. (this time, made by Disney)

>Mario is a terrible franchise to adapt, despite it being a big brand, as it's basically impossible to represent all the weird random wacky crap and turn it into an acutal plotline.
It could be. Done. You'd need some incredibly clever, talented writers, but a Mario film could potentially be awesome. You just need vision, creativity, and love of the source material.
Imagine 2007-2008 Pixar doing Mario.
